Nina and Gracia – Forever Ever After

The most beautiful discovery true friends ever make is that they can grow separately without growing apart

The above quote rings true with the friendship of Nina and Gracia, both started as members of JKT48 Third Generation but now they are in different teams. Gracia was promoted to Team T while Nina stays as Trainee. Some fans (including me) worry that they’ll grow apart after some time, but this tweet from Gracia easily calm everyone that they’re still best friend.

To understand more about them let’s look from the beginning.

The Beginning of it all

Both Nina Hamidah and Shania Gracia started as Third Generation of JKT48. In the beginning, Nina often hangs out with Chikita and Indah while Gracia seems to be making friends with Elaine and Sophia. But one day, they were assigned to the same blocking as Blue Tenshi in Tenshi no Shippo.

From then on, they got closer, Nina often called Gracia with “Grecot” or “Gre” while Gracia gave Nina a nickname, “Hamids”. Since then both of them became known as “Gremids” among fans and members.

They often took photos together, filled twitter timeline with funny conversation among them or invent new words such as “sangatLOL” (veryLOL).

Separated to be Reunited Again

When Team T formation was announced at “Mulai Sekarang Sungguh-Sungguh Part 2” event (January 24 2015), Gracia was promoted as one of the regular member while Nina stayed as a Trainee. Many were dazzled and confused why they must be separated, anxious of what will they become.

In the newly formed team T, Gracia continued her role in Tenshippo while Nina mostly become a back dancer and once in a while replacing Gracia as blue Tenshi . But as proven by 2nd generation trainees, being a trainee gave her new opportunities to perform with other teams. Nina had the chance to perform in Team J’s “Dareka no Tameni” setlist (she’s in Unit Song “Rider”)

Then March 15th came, Team T debuted “Te Wo Tsunaginagara” setlist. In their first very own setlist, Nina and Gracia can still perform together; Gracia in Glory Days unit song while Nina occasionally perform as a back dancer. The good thing is sometimes Nina replace other team T member like Nadse in Ame no Pianist or Desy in Kono Mune no Barcode.

In a short time Nina captivates most audiences with her performance and cute smile, more people really wish her to be promoted sooner.

Finally that day came at June 13th, at the end of “Many Flavors of JKT48, What Is Your Favorite Flavour?” ( JKT48 Ada Banyak Rasa, Pilih Suka Rasa Apa) Concert; JKT48 Manager, Jiro, announced that Nina was promoted to Team T along with Stefi and Cesen. Fans were ecstatic that Gremids are back together.

But sadly Gracia must let go another close friend which also considered to be her “older sister” in Team T, Elaine, who had to be transferred to Team J (her other best friend: Sofia, also promoted to Team J).

The sudden twist of member shuffle really shocking but hopefully all will be alright for Nina and Gre.
