Two Pioneers and Their Graduation: Nabilah and Melody
As someone who isn’t keeping up anymore with JKT48, I just learned that both Melody and Nabilah announced their graduation respectively in just a week time. Both are arguably the faces of JKT48 known very well to general public. JKT48 plateaued or even dwindling popularity and the lost of these two will, without any doubt, dictate their branching paths in the future years.
I will try my best to give the best summary about what she said on her graduation announcement.
Melody admitted that she knows nothing about idols when she first started six years ago and due to her lack of knowledge, she got into a scandal at that time. From that point on, she said that she decided to learn more about her new world and she also learned the hard way that being an idol is nothing without fans support.
Six years is a long journey and gave her lots of memories. After four years being the center, she started to think that her raison d’etre to be in the group is not for herself, but rather for her “sisters” to reach the same position that she’s in now.
She started to reached her dreams along the arduous six years journey, but alas, she still hasn’t realized two of her biggest dreams: JKT48 own original single and a concert at Gelora Bung Karno stadium despite all the efforts they poured into making it a reality. She’s still hoping that those dreams will one day came true even without her in there.
She already thought about her decision to leave the group since two or three years ago and she’s hoping that this time, her decision is right.
Her last show will be held on her birthday: March 24th, 2018.
She also kept it in secret from her own by blood sister, Frieska, as she went hysterical for a bit over her sister graduation announcement and noting that Melody “lied” to her about not graduating that night.
Melody then proceed to say that she’s proud of Frieska that she able to nab a Senbatsu position by her own strength without any single bit of help from her as even though Frieska is her own sister, her position between all the JKT48 members are all the same in Melody eyes.
Frieska admitted that she already knew the fact that one day Melody will graduate. While she’s being strict with everyone and doesn’t even sees Frieska as her own real sister in the group, she turned to the loving sister Frieska knew back at home and always told Frieska about every burdens and troubles she felt.
