Some Announcement
Time for some announcement for JKT48Stuff in general. Please do pardon if we rarely update with JKT48 news/translation or theater report nowadays due to things such as daily life and jobs. We will try to update more in the future.
New Design
Well, a new design for JKT48Stuff right after the concert the girls had just a few days ago in Semarang. Although we (well, basically me being such an egoist) opted more for simplicity, there’s not much changes in the new design in terms of features. In fact, we delete the discussion board and Q&A section.
I myself is now considering to merge those two section (Discussion board and Q&A section) into one section but we will see how it is going to be in the future.
Please do let me know if there are some quirks with the new design, especially in mobile view.
Offloaded Database
We try to offload our database to another shared SQL server to reduce the load on our VPS (we can only burst to 2 CPU for 2 hours before the provider restarted our VPS). The thing is, the setup for the offloaded shared MariaDB is still full of quirks, so please do let me know if somehow the website can’t connect to the database regularly.
You can tweet it to our Twitter username (@jkt48stuff) so that either me or the other authors can be notified of what’s happening just in case we are too busy to pay any attention to our monitoring software.
If it keeps on disconnecting connection even after a week, I will reconsider of using the local database again or searching for a cheap and viable solution for a dedicated offloaded database where I can configure it myself.
Donation
We tried very hard to pay for the monthly operation cost for this website by our own pocket money, but alas, things turns sour for us right now. Here’s the story behind our decision to start a donation system.
As a non-profit website and using JKT48 as our main contents, it would be unethical for us to relied on paid advertisement. So we decided to use another method of paying the operational monthly cost of this website.
At first, we use our own pocket money, but then realized that it is not will always be viable in long terms, especially with those who have family members to consider. We then decided to look for another sources of income to pay the monthly cost by doing odd jobs here and there, including translation service, be it to English or Japanese.
We manage to landed ourselves a translation/subtitle job (Indonesian to Japanese) for a TV series that pretty much promised us that the payment for the service would cover our operation monthly cost for up to a year. We did the job within the deadline applied; but unfortunately for us, after waiting for more than a month for our payment, it never came while our operational monthly cost keeps on piling our budgeting records.
And it all came down to this. We open up a donation system to cover our expenses, or we close our door forever; which, we also do not want to be happen to our works in this website that we love too much. As much as we hated to add an extra burden to our readers, we really do need your help to keep this website stay afloat.
Our target currently is 21.7 USD/month (More details in our donation page). We will try to cover the rest of the cost using our pocket money if the donated money amount less than what we initially targeted per month, but we do in dire need of your help from now on, mohon bantuannya (Yoroshiku onegaishimasu/I’m in your care).
I’m glad the comments were carried over from the old commenting system to the new commenting system.
if me want to donate some of me money, where do me have to transfer it?
fyi; me money start with an Rp, and not US$..
are there no preferable indonesian bank account?
i think rupiah’s can, coz angga in indonesia and an indonesian.
Thank you for the kind thoughts Benimaru!
The problem is, we would like to have a consolidated account as we currently don’t want all the donation you’ve given us being mixed up with our personal money. We want to keep everything in tab and recorded well.
We are currently still thinking about how to solve this problem, whether we open a new bank account in Indonesia or by using any possible local digital wallet, which somehow not that efficient since the method of payment our providers accept is only via PayPal or US Bank Account.
is that mean that at this moment you still can not accept rupiahs? any other alternatives so rupiahs can be usefull?
We are currently still trying to sort out this issue, hopefully we will come up with a solution in early June by perhaps using local digital wallet.
Hi, I’m new here. and I’m on to this all JKT48 things not so long ago (new fans indeed). Maybe just started 2 months ago. :D. After learned a bit about JKT48 and 48fam from internet, accidentally I brought to this site. And this site interest me the most. So if there any way to help this site by donate some of my money, I’ll happily to do it. So I’ll wait for the further information.
And you know, Although I live in Indonesia, it still like I’m on the other side of the world. Because I live in the furthest province from Jakarta. You can guess right? Yep, Papua.
ah yes, I could only use Rupiahs
I’m really sorry that currently, there’s still no viable method for donation using Rupiah . We’re still kinda confused on how to exchange those Rupiahs into US Dollars in our digital wallet right now…
