Jadilah Nekad V: Gingham Check HS Event – Angga’s Report
It was a blast. The Jadilah Nekad V is by far the Jadilah Nekad program attended by the most participants. There are some who doesn’t signed up for the program this time around such as Mt. Joss, CleaningStaff, our own Wotaliano, and Mr. Yokohama (Who came a few weeks before) but we have more additions by the coming back of Mr. Twin-Tail, Da-Chi, Mr. Adik, and of course our Japarta as well as some new additions such as KouxFeb, Iga, Ultra7, Ms. Princess, and a lot more.
I’m going to focus more on the 1st day of Jadilah Nekad V as I am completely phased out (Read: Vertigo and Fever) on the 3rd day which is the day of the Gingham Check Handshake Event.
First Day – Theater Viewing
As usual, our meeting place is a coffee shop downstairs in f(X). The first to came is me and not long after Da-Chi came in. We hugged as we haven’t see each other for months, a bro moment there. Then KouxFeb, our newest and youngest addition came in, he’s new in the entourage but we became friends very fast. With just seconds passing by, “Ms. Princess” aka “Ms.Minion” aka “Athena” aka “Waga no Hime-sama” aka “God is Great” aka “Can she be the idol instead?” came in. And that is the time when…
…the local JKT48Stuff writers and corespondents went bananas over her.
Hey, don’t get me wrong, I tried to make my move as well! But when I just started to make my move, she showed me the special gift she got from my younger brother (Who lives in Japan). Lost before the battle achievement: Achieved.
Back to the story, Ms. DoubleV and Mr. M also came to the meeting, albeit not signing up directly for the program and having been visited Jakarta a few times before, this is the first time for them to indirectly joining in the program.
And that being said, with the addition of Mr. Adik, that’s the full roster for the first day while there will be more coming from Japan and KL in the 2nd and 3rd day.
JKT48 Theater – Trainee Performance
It wasn’t my intention to watch the theater that night since I already felt that there’s absolutely something wrong with my health, but in the end of the day, Pitra ensure me to watch the show and there I was, queuing in front of the ticket booth.
As I’ve watched a few Pajama Drive performances by both their seniors in Team J and Team KIII, I wasn’t expecting much from the trainees.
And…Tya slayed me.
For the first time ever I screamed a big fat “Holy shit!” in theater. Lucky no one hears it. Her moves are powerful when the song requires her to and graceful when it came to song that requires her to do just that. You should see her performance to believe it. She really went all out.
Andela’s performance is above the average as well. She’s extremely good in Temo Demo no Namida.
While both Tya and Andela were really good that night, the rest of the team finds it hard to match their showmanship and the only one who can match them was Manda and Chika. Their MCs that night was pretty good albeit a bit quirky here and there, but they’re learning their ropes.
Their road is pretty smooth for now unlike their seniors, which somehow scares me: That they can’t fathom the word “failure” once it hit them at the most unpredictable moment.
And on my way out of the theater, I utter the same words again when I met Tya: “Holy shit!” She was that good that night, I just hope she doesn’t take the “Holy shit!” as something negative though.
I know I’m such an evil to say this, but I just hope that this smart girl will waive her scholarship to China if possible since she got that thing, the X factor, to keep the dance department in JKT48 alive and holding the legacy that Beby has build.
After the fun we had at the theater, we met again for dinner in a cafe in f(X). And that was the time when Noella came down and Pitra used this great chance to introduce Ms. Princess and Ms. DoubleV to her. Suffice to say that the short exchange of “Hi” boosted Ms. Princess and Ms.DoubleV eagerness for the handshake event.
We had our dinner and we said goodbye to each other.
Second Day – iClub48 Taping
I’m not participating this time due to work related issue. But some of the first batch participants were under the guidance of RedRanger48, one of JKT48Stuff’s writer, as well as Ryand, one of our contributors, to watch the iClub48 taping on NetTV.
This time, some of the fans already notice the appearances of the Jadilah Nekad participants with one of the attendees took a picture of Ms. Princess secretly and hail her for her beauty in social media. That was pretty shocking .
Anyway, I just hope that Indonesians will try to acknowledge privacy by censoring some of our Japanese counterpart participants face next time if it was taken for public consumption. Just in case they don’t want their face to be viral as opposed to what the JKT48 officials have been doing until now .
As whether they gonna have their face recorded in TV since they attend the taping, I dunno. Some of them are a-okay with that and some don’t.
Third Day – Gingham Check Handshake Event
Ahh the event…I was pretty much unable to attend many HS session due to my vertigo. But anyway, RHKilis and Japarta will write a more complete report for the handshake event as well as our participants report.
The participants already got their bus which we chartered a few days before ready at around 8 AM and they arrived earlier than predicted. I arrived there at around 10:15 AM and met the other contributors such as Ted and Febry as well as our authors such as RHKilis and Pitra. We went directly to a restaurant around the venue and established our HQ there.
I’ve practically got nothing to report this time since all I did was just resting at the HQ and tried to make my vertigo calmer. The only session I attend was the fifth session for Shania and only one ticket.
And that one session really left me with a bitter taste. The venue was HUGE, the queuing system was BETTER. This is by far the best handshake event JKT48 ever held. But then when everything seems amazing, the fans were not, well at least one fan. He just cut the line of the queue to his own advantage and that makes my -who got his vertigo pounding his head- blood’s boiled.
Then my childish side just came up, I just go straight into him and grabbed him by his arm. I don’t even care anymore that he actually talking to our participants, I just want this guy to know that he cut the queue line and he is an asshole. Me, and Ted, who also knows what happened, confronted him and told it straight to his face that we don’t like his behavior. And you can expect what is next: Excuses, excuses, “I don’t know”, blah, blah.
Having done that, I just leave him there and walk to my destination. It was then that one of our participants told me that the asshole from before is a friend of my younger brother. Well, I don’t care if he is a friend of my brother or not, what is wrong is wrong. But then, I realize something..
D’oh! I just flared up in front of our guests! There’s no justification for my stupid emotional burst and perhaps talking about it peacefully without pushing him and grabbing him by the arm might be a better option, especially in front of our participants. I really need to apologize for my childish behavior.
Another lesson learned.
And that being said, time for a handshake with Shan! Nothing much really happened since I only have one ticket.
Me: Hey, so you’ve met Ms. Princess.
S: Yeah! She’s so cute!
Me: She’s a part of our pro..
S: Yeah! I know, I read that though it’s hard for me to understand completely (it’s in English)! Good luck with the program for the next Handshake event.
Me: Roger that, we will try to bring more overseas fans.
S: Thank you! I’ll look forward to it!
Time’s up and I got a bunch of her stickers as well as a photocopied thank you letter and a DVD. Well, time to go back to the HQ and rest once again. But hey, learned something new everyday, Shan knows about the program and while she understood English, she’s not on the proficient level yet.
I just waited there and tried to sleep with Ted attending me and gave me some emergency massage to ease my pain (Thanks Ted). I’m such a party pooper…
Anyway, night comes and the last session was over. We all getting ready for the mini concert and starting to cleaned up the HQ from our trashes. Got a few weird looks as this is not an activity normal for Indonesians . Even the waiter asked me why do we cleaned up the place in their stead.
While the guys and gals having fun in front of the mini concert stage, I was sitting behind and again, sleep. So yeah, there’s really nothing in particular I could report, my apologies.
At least we managed to get some selfies there! Well, technically, selfies with a part of my forehead
Asked bravely for a chance of 2shot with our star of the night, Ms. Princess, but the picture(s!!) taken by Febry can’t be saved with unknown reason…maybe God hates me, I dunno.
And to my surprise, the act of cleaning up the trashes initially done by some fans at the previous handshake event touched some other fans heart. And here are some of the heroes of Gingham Check Handshake Event, ladies and gents:
I’ve received news that one of our authors, WasshoiJ from Singapore, was there as well. But alas, I can’t no longer move normally as my vertigo is reaching its height and I felt like the world is spinning around. So I decided to go back home by utilizing the bus we chartered along with our guests.
Fourth Day – Back to f(X)
It was Eid al-Adha and I don’t have any plan for today aside from meeting my family to celebrate the occasion. But then suddenly, a notification came in, one of our participants, KouxFeb lost his 2nd Anniversary DVD. I remember that I picked up a lost DVD on our way back home and asked if anyone lost it. I was told to keep it first just in case someone claimed the lost DVD. So yeah, that DVD must be KouxFeb’s.
I decided to go to f(X) with various reasons to my family members and gave him the DVD. And well, why not eat something Indonesia while we are at it? So we planned for a visit to a Padang Restaurant while waiting for some of the entourage to come.
A few hours later and we still not have the full members of the entourage, I already felt my head is started to spin again and now with a slight indication of a fever. When Febry, one of our contributors, came, I decided to go home along with Pitra.
It was then at the way to call myself a cab, Da-chi and KouxFeb suddenly hugged me and said both their thank yous and good-bye. “Shit,” I said as I started to felt tears welling up around the edges of my eyes. It was only a short time meeting these guys, can barely understand each others language and yet, I can only feel pain stabbing through me when I know that we can only meet months again in the future, if the money needed for the trip and the condition allows us to do so.
I really hope that I can get over all those limitation next year for another trip of JKT48Stuff Japan Raid, the second part. JKT48 has indeed connect us, and I feel grateful for it.
A very special thanks to Japarta who went through lengths to ensure the smooth operation of Jadilah Nekad Part V.
