What They Say: Planning My Trip
Well, you see, we already have the guide to visit Jakarta. But then again, we feel that it doesn’t cover enough ground for your visit to the theater. What I’m trying to say is, what is your personal preparation or things you want to prepare beforehand for your visit to JKT48 Theater?
We can see an example here by one of our author personal blog where he told a story about his trip to Jakarta and things he prepared once he landed in Jakarta. So what’s yours?
Here are some things that some of our overseas writer think of very important:
Japarta
JKT48 was born in Indonesia 2 years ago as the first sister group of AKB48 outside Japan. From Japan I have been supporting them since their debut, and around me JKT48 fans are gradually increasing in Japan.
Many of us feel a kind of “nostalgia” with JKT48. Oh, I don’t mean JKT48 is old fashioned but we feel that JKT48 is on the beginning stage right now as AKB48 used to be in Japan. JKT48 has something special that we, fans Japan, had already forgotten. Freshness, single-minded, pure dream and so on… These are JKT48’s fascination from Japanese fans’ point of view.
My dream… hehehe one of my dreams had already come true! I came to Jakarta for several times, watched JKT48’s show and met JKT48 members. Every time I met them, I found new things. And Every time I found new things, I reported them to fans in Japan via SNS using my own modem, my smartphone and my tablet.
So, the must have thing for me for my trip is a local number for connecting to the internet to update my friends in Japan about my trip to meet JKT48. There are various GSM provider in Indonesia. They are not using any contract phone method like one we would have in developed countries, You just buy the card and insert it into your phone, very easy. But they share the same cons: they still don’t have LTE yet, unstable HSDPA is the best we can get.
The choices are a lot, but as a good JKT48 fans, I would picked up IM3 as their main sponsor , well, the signal is so-so from some places, but from my past experiences, the signal is better in f(X), I don’t particularly know why.
Anyway, in HS event in November, I got 2 IM3 card from my Oshi-men. I was thinking that I could use it again for my next trip. Alas, they have an expiry date for each card if we not use it for too long….
Another must thing of course: Camera! Camera phone is just okay. This is to took pictures of the theater premises as well as with fans!
And the last thing most important for me is of course Japanese merchandises to trade with local fans. I rarely have any AKB48 merchandises, so I usually exchange it with other merchandises from Japan, because you know, the local fans are very nice and always gave us, overseas fans, a lot of things! Remember how much Viny photos I got for free from djt? Two pile of tofus package!

Ever since I became a JKT48 fan, roughly 1 year ago, I’ve been dreaming of going to the Indonesian capital to see the girls with my very own eyes.
Getting to know both local and Japanese fans who visited it, my desire to go only grew stronger and stronger. Thanks to knowing local fans and becoming friends with them I could know many things of Indonesia, Jakarta and all the interesting sights and things it offers, while hearing stories from my Japanese friends who visited it made it sound more and more appetizing: high buying power of the Japanese yen, friendly atmosphere and people, not ot mention of course going to see the JKT48 show, and buy related goods and stuff…
I also recently read that after arriving at the airport you can rent a mobile phone from a company the JKT48 are doing a campaign for (The name was Indosat if I recall correctly?) that lets you use it for a very convenient price, like 500 JPY for 3 days?
I don’t know about others but I kind of can’t live without my phone (lol) so I’d definitely need one, and while I’m sure I’d go over 500 yen it’s still a killer price when compared to Japanese ones…
It seems they also have JKT goods with them? So well that’s a surefire choice. I’ll check just for information the other offers but…I’ll probably go where the JKT wind blows haha!
Anyway after all such preparations what I’d like to do is simple, see some capital sights like Monas and Blok M, go to fx of course, see as many shows and other events if possible…
Of course visiting nearby towns like Bandung, maybe go to see a Dangdut show, other traditional shows and dances? Local food of course…
I don’t know exactly when, but next year I’m definitely going to achieve this dream (also to pair it up with my honeymoon, as my wife got very interested in Indonesia too) and have a seriously good time…got to go back and practice Bahasa Indonesia now!
And that being said, what’s yours? Go and give it a go in the comment form! We will also update this article with some more opinions from overseas fans either it be our own authors or overseas fans that we invited directly to give their opinions in this article
