RKJ January 16th Theater Report

I actually chose the date based on my own desire to watch my favorite trio, Akicha, Haruka and Stella performing. But unfortunately, Haruka is not feeling too well and Akicha went back to Japan to do something important.

I got number 11 on my bingo and called first. Thus I ended up sitting right in front of the stage. Happy but this means I will not have any spare moments to make a note. So, this time the report was based on my memory of that night.

Shadow Announcer : Kinal

Stella sang the Nagai Hikari solo line. The audiences still haven’t been able to wave their lightstick here due to Stella’s mesmerizing voice and singing her line live. Instead of lightstick we could hear claps and cheering just like watching a diva concert.

For a trivia, Stella doesn’t use any earpiece monitor and there’s none stage monitor could be found on the stage. Multiply that factor with a very horrendous room acoustic. Stella perhaps felt her voice is being killed by the backing track, thus she really couldn’t maximize her miking technique here worrying that her voice will be completely overshadowed by the backing track when she reached high notes. This resulting in her voice breaking the decibels limit in some notes and kinda killed her mesmerizing voice a little bit.

JOT, you could already see the girls tendency to prefer singing it live, please take a note and improve the theater acoustic.

[TN : And give the girls that God damned earpiece monitor! I’m an amateur musician and I swear I can’t live without any decent stage monitor and having someone capable as my F.O.H whenever I’m receiving requests from the cafe clients]

Today, I felt that the members doesn’t really performing as good as they used to. They were usually very detailed in each of their movement, but this time they lack the details and only concentrating on their timing.

In my own honest opinion, for mid-temp songs such as Nagai Hikari and Squall no Aida ni, the less the details the worst the end results.

Frieska is performing in this show, and actually her vintage face and her soft movement really fit the mid-tempo songs. But unfortunately, Frieska seems still trying hard to remember her parts and lacking the confidence.

Backdancer in Squall no Aida ni is from the trainee and I saw Novinta there. She still not looking comfortable with her dance which is normal based on her minimum experience, but she really needs to work out on her expression more. Looking nervous there!

JK Nemurihime, in here since I sat on the front line, I could pay much attention to their costume and how some of them doesn’t have the costume fitted right. Like Jeje who seems to forgot to buttoned her Blazer. But that was a blessing in disguise since I just noticed that they have the so very detailed ruffle on their shirt.

Kimi ni Au Tabi Koi wo Suru/Jatuh Cinta Setiap Bertemu Denganmu. I really like this song. Members already found their pace on both JK Nemurihime and this song. Perhaps due to the faster choreography ?

UNIT SONG

Kuroi Tenshi : Sonia-Gaby-Jeje
Perhaps this is the side effect of having watched Beby performing this song but I think Sonia is not yet ready to be a center for this song. Her plus point might be her beautiful voice and her dance is not that bad, it was good in fact. It’s just that Sonia is way too much a Lolita to be the center of this song.

Gaby hurt her feet before the show, so she kinda careful with her movement. I really like Gaby in this song, her tanned skin, her posture and her dancing capability, it’s all an exact fit to this song. Her main problem in this song is perhaps her expression. Her smile is not a fit to the song.

Jeje is amazing. Her dance and her expression, it was next to perfection. I really like her complicated acting to be strong but still asking for an attention with a little bit of sadness poured in it expression.

That night, Jeje is the center for me.

Heart Gata Virus : Sonya-Ayana-Rena
Sonya got her engine back it seems. She really good with her smile here. There’s no longer that lingering not confidence enough aura, even when she made a mistake, she still as confident as ever. My favorite moment is when she caressed the mic stand with both of her hand and her passionate eyes tracing her hand gesture and ended up looking upfront while smiling.

Ayana and Rena also improved so much. Rena looks like she really enjoying the song. While Ayana, although not as attractive as Sonya and Rena, still able to do the song with her innocent expression.

Seems like they sang parts of the song live.

Renai Kinshi Jourei : Stella-Ve-Delima
I don’t have any other comments other than THAT WAS CRAZY!

I’ve never seen Akicha as the center of this song live. But Stella-Ve-Delima is not one to be underestimated and I assured you, they will left your mouth gaping. The three of them got their own style in dancing and their chemistry really do the talking here.

At the end of the song, they just walked out of the stage proudly and cocky. I even heard an audience commented “Holy cow! what a way to exit the stage!” We were all in awe about how they still managed to be still in character even when they were leaving the stage.

Tsundere! : Nabilah-Frieska-Cindy
Frieska vocal is not bad, but she seems still doesn’t able to remember her parts well and sometimes resulting as an annoying presence on stage. On the bright side, I could see the other side of Frieska, the shy Frieska. If Frieska really want to improve her self, she will really need to conquer this song.

Manatsu no Christmas Rose : Shania-Rica-Kinal-Dhike
I’ve never been able to watch this song completely on YouTube and I’ve never been able to hear this song completely due to various technical reasons.

But I really can’t stop smiling like a child when I saw this song that night. The girls really shines in this song. Amazing choreography, amazing vocal.

The second session MC theme was about the stuff you always brought everywhere you go.

Rena : Oxygen
Members : *laugh* Why Oxygen ?
Rena : Without Oxygen, we can’t breath.
Jeje : *In her Yankee style* So how the hell did you “brought” that Oxygen ?
Rena : This! *Giving her empty palm to Jeje*
Audiences : *laughed*

Next is Jeje

Jeje : Makeup
Rena : Really? I don’t see any makeup here. *Tracing Jeje with her eyes from head to toe*

Rena is getting awesome with her answer

Switch and 109, my very first time to see Rica up close and personal. I’ve just realized how much she improved herself this past year. Her movement is both feminine yet strong.

Hikoukigumo, seems like someone forget to open the backdrop. Well, show must go on and Kinal just go straight onto the backstage like a bull

Kinal : What kind of a mobile application you girls want ?
Sonia : *thinking*
Kinal : Application for Diet ?
Sonia : I’m slim already! *showing her sexy curves*
Kinal : I meant the one for your cheek
Sonia : *pouting*

And suddenly, the topic changed into “Nose”

Sonia : Ci Jeje nose…look at that shiny holy caving nostrils!
Jeje : Look at yourself
Sonia : *pouting*
Cindy : *Holding her laugh*
Jeje : Cindy, you have such a flat nose anyway!
Cindy : Howaaa! *sulking*
Jeje : But let’s take a look at Ayana, she’s an Arab halfie, look at her elongated nose.

And this time Kinal suddenly talk about Ve

Kinal : Jeje’s hair in Kuroi Tenshi..pretty cool stuff ‘huh.
Jeje : …My face got covered by my own hair..
Kinal : *laugh* Kinda different compared to Ve. If she sway her hair, in any kind of condition, it will be back into position perfectly.
Ve : *blushing* Aw shut up..
Kinal : Gave ’em some examples
Members : *Whimpering asking Ve to show some example*
Ve : *Swaying her hair like a shampoo ad star*
Audiences : UWWWOHHHHH!!!!!!
Members : Awesome! it really does back into position perfectly!!
Kinal : Now, Jeje, You try.
Jeje : *Halfway in doing it and she already looked like Sadako from The Ring*

When Ve doing her MC for Ano Koro no Sneaker, for no apparent reason, Ayana laughed so hard even to the point where Ve kinda confused about what in the world is happening currently. And then suddenly all the members started to tease Ve too for no apparent reason. Ve started to sulk and showed her pouted face to both Kinal and Jeje at the intro of the song. One of that magical moment that should be captured on camera.

ENCORE

Suddenly there was this scream right from behind me asking for an encore. His voice is like a thunder and I swear I almost pissed my pants due to that. The one who screamed is a Japanese fan with his brand new JKT48 shirt. I really am glad that overseas fans already think of this theater as their own pride and turf. Proven by that scream which usually overseas fans didn’t do at first.

JKT Sanjou, all the members were exhausted. Nabilah’s flashlight falls down. Shinkoukyuu and Oogoe Diamond both infected with the same problem. I’ve seen them performing way much better than this. Frieska especially, she really does a lot of mistakes.

At the high touch session I told Frieska to do a much better job in remembering the choreography and gave her some spiritual support. She just smiled but her eyes and gestures tells me everything : “Next time I’ll do better!”

Overall, this time Team J performing sub-par. I’ve seen them doing things much better than this and it seems like they lost lots of their stamina.

[TN : Perhaps due to the weather, I also collapsed due to the weather for at least a week….]

They were missing some important details such as the J and K letter on JK Nemurihime and that circling motion in Oogoe Diamond. It was like powerless or something.

The plus point is many more preferring to sing it live now.
