“Jakarta is a country name ? Indonesia and India are same ? I think so before”.

Hmmm….she was just joking, wasn’t she? I mean, how could she didn’t know that. It should be taught in school, that Indonesia can’t be separated from Japan’s modern history. Not because what her ancestor did to ours in WW2, but because of the two countries’ bilateral relationship since 1958. Which shares historical, economy, and political ties.

In early 60’s, it was even said that Indonesia’s capital moved to Tokyo because our first president very frequently went to Japan for diplomatical courtesy visitations. Well, he also had a Japanese women for one of his wives too.(You’re the man, Mr. President!) In January 2013 our beloved incumbent president, Mr. SBY, hosted a bilateral talk with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. Nowadays there are more than 10.000 Nihonjin in Indonesia, on the other side more than 20.000 Indonesian people working in Japan. Those facts can reflect how close relationship between two countries also how important Indonesia’s role does for Japan and vice versa.

So she must be joking, musn’t she?

    • mugiwara says:

yeah, but lets face it, most japanese idol girls arent so smart..

      • HERMAN says:

Well, at least they’re cute, aren’t they?……..Look, It was still fully apprehensible if she couldn’t point where the hell Timbuktu is on the world map. But, Jakarta?? Indonesia?? Jesus, man…… Indonesia never goes anywhere, it still and always in South East Asia. Part of Asia continent, same as Japan. So she must be joking, mustn’t she?

    • benimaru says:

      Dude..

Even one of indonesia beauty queen (that tried to go intl) once said that indonesia is a beautiful city…

      • HERMAN says:

No surprise that she lost the election due to what her saying.

        • mitto says:

I think she talked quite seriously about the matter you mentioned.
Although that applies not only to her but to young Japanese women in general, actually there are quite a few who are weak on world geography. But there is no doubt that Indonesia is one of the best-known country in Southeast Asia among Japanese, most of whom feel an affinity with the people of Indonesia. Of course, I believe that Akicha is now one of the Japanese who has felt strongly that.

    • Haddad says:

On the contrary to what most indonesian people believe. Foreign people are more likely to think that Indonesia are part ofBali. Believe m vle, I’ve read many expatriate blog that tells those story.

I think it is worth noted for future posts to include some trivia to illustrate the situation that the girls (and fans) face here to oversea readers. Including a map to illustrate the city where they do concert can be helpful. I wonder how many people who aware that the distance from Jakarta to Makassar is about the same as Fukuoka to Sapporo. And perhaps time zone factor is necessary just in case it will be live streamed next time  Makassar and Bali is JST -01:00, not JST -02:00 like Jakarta

  8. Buddy says:

Like mother like daughter, Nabilah also didn’t know what “DKI Jakarta” mean, same like me  I like Akicha (mother) – Nabilah (daughter) and Haruka (younger sister) – Stella (older sister) relationship :-D

DKI = daerah khusus ibukota (capital city)

    • Khan says:

Haruka is older than Stella, so she is suppose to be the older sister

      • benimaru says:

        Dude..

        Haruka is 15 years old..

      • Buddy says:

I know Haruka is older than Stella but Haruka behaviour is like little girl especially when she with Stella. Haruka is like a little sister compare to Stella who behave more mature. :-P
