From Japan with Love – Jadilah Nekad III Stories

In Jadilah Nekad (reckless) tour this time, DC joined from day one, as well as Dukati Rider from Nagoya, Mr. Bangkok from Thailand and Fresh Boy from Okinawa who joined from the 2nd day. So we had 4 participants in total. Thanks a lot!

And this is my report.

Schedule

We tried a discount air ticket for our flight. It was not by LCC, but we looked for a cheaper ticket by a combination of general airlines in website. As a result, our schedule was as below.

In last HS event, we had to leave the venue because of our flight time. Then, this time we arranged our schedule to enjoy it to the end. My air ticket price was about ¥ 60,000 including fuel surcharge. And we stayed in Harris Suites fx as usual to make ourselves easier to go anywhere.

Although our schedule allowed us to watch only 1 show, it was our luck that we were able to watch the BnT Senshuraku (the final day).

February 22nd BnT Senshuraku

Because we had already won a super far ticket, we were just only worrying whether we would arrive at the theater before ticket exchanging time. It was Saturday, traffic on the highway from the airport was quite smooth which then enable us to arrived at the theater at 5:30pm. Yeah, it was Senshuraku, hundreds of fans gathered there.

Our seat was in the center in 4th row. It was the most overcrowded in the theater as far as I had ever seen. I found Sisil and other KKSs were in the sound booth to watch the show.

Kage-announce by Yupi, then a screen came down. Memories of Bnt were flashed back.

After that, overture would start….but we heard team K3’s call from the stage wing! Then, overture got started! It was special on that day. So cool!

Every time I visited Jakarta I watched BnT and recognized their growth. It’s because I had a few months’ interval after I saw a show until next.

Physically small members danced with superb movement, even for a split second they were particular about their expression, they were dynamic enough to use up the full stage. On this day, all members performed with all their heart and mind and strength, it was their compilation. I got to know how much they loved BnT.

In 1st MC session, almost all members were crying. Some members talked about the time when their theater was not full so they felt hurt. The strongest impression for me was Noella’s words, “Maybe our BnT is worse than AKB’s, but we, team K3, completed our own BnT.” This words represented all members mind.

In next MC Noella also said “It was very interesting you fans chant Woyo Woyo! And Satu, Dua, Tiga…Hahaha” It made me understand that they completed their BnT together with their fans.

I wish I can hear their word “completed!” again in their next set list as well.

February 23rd HS event

The venue was Balai Kartini. larger venue than last one. When we arrived there at 9:30am, Air conditioners worked well, it was so comfortable.

The venue inside, the left side was event area with main stage. And there were also a mini stage where members would make their speech for Sousenkyo and there were small shops from sponsors.

The right side was HS area. The barcode on our ticket that we bought in advance was registered in the reception, then we moved to each member’s booth.

On this day, DukatiRider and Mr. Bangkok joined us. This is their first time to enjoy JKT48 HS event. However, since they had ever lived in Indonesia and able to speak the language, no problem to communicate with members at all.

And another participant, DC-san, said “I found a Japanese boy in the venue!” and brought Sawayaka-kun (Fresh boy) who is from Okinawa pref. Our base was in a cafeteria in next building to the venue. Our group became like a big family, with JKT48Stuff members, its friends and local fans. We took rests between HS sessions, our chatting was everlasting.

Well, my HS event was as below. I’m sorry I don’t disclose some parts of my conversation with members. Hahaha.

Session3 : Rica

Rica welcome me with her eyes wide open, “Woaaah, XX-san! (my real name)”. That’s great, she is one of members who pay attention to their fans very well.

J: I was anxious about you so much because you didn’t perform in the start of DnT. When first time you appeared in DnT, some of Japanese fans cried. You know?
R: (She seemed so happy). Who did cry?
J: Hmmm…. so many!

I said that, but actually I myself also cried. Hahaha.

She has regular features, beautiful like a pretty doll. And her hands are so small. She made me shy, It was difficult for me to watch her eyes.

Before me in the queue, I met a local fan who had so many tickets. He said, “This is a project that I tell fans’ message from country side who cannot come here today for Rica.” Local fans help each other.

Session4 : Ikha

I’m curious about her among all K3 members. I have ever HS with her after theater show, but this is my first time with her in HS event. I heard her laughing voice from the booth while I was queuing.

J: Nice to meet you, Ikha! I’m XX.
I: Hello! Thanks for coming.
J: I was fascinated by your smile so came to meet you. By the way, how’s your practice for new set list going?
I: It requires higher level a bit, but I must be able to do it well.
J: I see. Good luck with your work. I’m rooting for you in Japan.

She was all smiles, so friendly and took firm hold of my hands. She heard my word carefully, My favor rating of her went up.

Session5 : Shania

I HS with Shania since the 1st HS event.

J: Hello, Shania!
S: Hello!
J: Is performing DnT more difficult than ever?
S: Yeah, right. But I’m working hard.
J: I’m rooting for you in Japan.
S: Thanks!

Her full smile haven’t changed at all as the “Originator of JKT Full Smile”. She looks so adult but she is still 16 years old. Such unbalance is also her charm.

Session7 : Sendy

J: Hello, Sendy!
S: Aaahhhh! (with her funny voice as usual) Hello!
J: Congratulations on your 200 times performance in your theater and Senbatsu Flying get.
S: Thanks! I’m happy you always support me!
J: I always root for you! Ganbatte!
S: Yes! Thanks a lot!

Ahahaha. I was happy to hear her laughing voice live. She is a JKT48 member, but she seemed as if she is not. I felt so familiar with her.

Oh yeah, she sang a dangdut song “Wulan Merindu” on the stage. Her singing was steady skillful. I myself often sang it when I was working in Jakarta.. I wish I could duet this song with her. Hahaha

*I also had a ticket for Ve, but time was over.

Session9 : Viny

Djt, is my friend and Viny-oshi, gave me a ticket for HS with Viny and said “This is for you, it’s to promote Viny.” You know, Viny is increasing her fans with her smile, smiley killer. Yeah, actually I wanted to see her smile live, so Djt gave me a good chance to meet her. And he asked me to give her his message.

The queue for Viny was still long. It was final session and already behind the scheduled time, so a staff was inside the booth to control the time, HS time for us was less than 10 seconds.
My turn, I opened the curtain. I found the staff inside was Mr. O, JOT.

J: Wow, it’s you! Mr. O!
O: Wahahaha
V: Ahahaha
(Viny also laughed together.)
J: Hello, Viny!
V: Hello.
J: Message for you from Djt san. “if you are done your work, go to bed immediately.”
V: Sure, thanks!
J: Bye bye!
O: Huh? That’s all? Thanks for your kind cooperation! Hahahaha

I gave them my small cooperation to make the event run smoothly. However, time was enough to see Viny’s smile closely and I got understand why many people are fascinated by her. Her smile is perfect.

I enjoyed HS with 5 members, and I heard it is not only these 5 members but also all other JKT48 members are “Kami-taio (treating fans so kindly)”. Oh yes, just one surprise. There were not few overseas fans there. They came to see JKT48 alone, without anybody together. There was a Japanese fan who had 30 tickets for Gaby. He is awesome!

DC-san, Mr. Bangkok also reported their experience in HS event. Please enjoy them too!

Well, I did found some regrettable things in this HS event.

Staffs measured 10 seconds/ticket fairly. It was good, I felt 10 seconds were long enough. But, accordingly, the event itself got behind the scheduled time. Probably it was because JOT sold too many ticket, and their estimation of time to replace a fan to next fan was not enough.

Although JOT changed the venue from their theater to bigger ones until now, the venue capacity doesn’t catch up with fans increase. Ticket registration queue was so long and crowded, air conditioner didn’t work well due to the inflow of the fans exceeded the venue max capacity. Therefore, I cannot recommend this event to schoolchildren and families with small children. I hope JOT provide another bigger venue for next event (Maybe another bigger one with roof is only Tennis Indoor Senayan?) or 2 days HS event if they can?

And, while we were queuing for HS, we had no chance to watch any event on the stage on our left. In last HS we were able to watch events on the stage while queuing for HS, so last time was better than this time in terms of the layout inside venue.　Hopefully it is improved in next HS event. As a side note, this is the complete opposite to what Angga felt about the layout in his report here where he felt it makes the flow much better by separating the stages from the handshake booth itself.

Event on the stage after HS

It got started with “Overture”, “Musim Panas Sounds Good!” I was watching it in the center in the back. Cheer and Mix chant were heated even from fans in the back. We were involved. Hahaha

In MC session, we had Seitan-sai for Viny. Viny puffed out a candle on the cake. Oh yeah, I forgot to say Viny happy birthday when we HS. I’m sorry, Viny.

Then, “Bingo!” “Hubungan Kau dan Aku” by Melody and Nabilah, and “Demi seseorang” by all members.

After MC session again, they also performed their next single “Flying Get”.

Yes, I know. On this day it was “Manatsu (Musim Panas)” HS event. But I cried because I myself had special feeling with “Flying Get”. Do you remember? In February 2012, AKB48 came to this Balai Kartini for their concert with JKT48. One of AKB48’s performances was “Flying Get”. At that time JKT48 were just watching their seniors’ “Flying Get”. Just 2 years later, JKT performed the same song, in the same place and in front of many many JKT48 fans. So impressed. Do you agree with me?

Well, it was time for “announcement” as usual.

Next set list for K3 is “Gadis Gadis Remaja (Seishun Girls)”, For the coming single after Flying Get 16 Senbatsu members will be selected by fans voting. And…

Jiro: Rachel, Vanka, come here.
(They moved forward with an anxious look and stood beside Jiro)
Jiro: From now on… you 2 guys… become members of… Team J!

Shout of joy like rumbling of the ground filled entire venue. No matter who is whose oshi-mem, all fans there　congratulated them. I was so happy to be present at the moment that everybody had been waiting for.

Again, Rachel, Vanka, Congratulations! And KKS, I’m sure nobody who don’t admit you. It’ll be soon.

Summary

We had so many happy happenings, but sorry I cannot write all here.

To overseas fans who has not been to Jakarta yet, I know it’s not easy to visit Jakarta but I strongly recommend you to see JKT48 once. Please see JKT48 live and local fans live.

And To 48G fans in Japan, something that you brought up in Japan is blooming in Indonesia now. You guys should be proud of it. I respect you, guys.

The next is “Flying Get HS event”. Come on and join us!

It’s time for HS!

My schedule is session 2,7,8 for Ve and session 4 for Haru-gon. Last time I wanted to meet many members so I bought tickets for 7 sessions. But time was not enough, I gave up not only a HS chance with Naomi but also watching events on the stage. For this time, I bought tickets only for 4 sessions to focus on HS with Ve mainly and watching events on the stage.

But… I talked to my local friend, Djt who is Viny Kami-Oshi, that I was “fished” by Viny in yesterday’s BnT. He said “I’ll be happy if you HS with Viny, please say happy birthday to her!” and he gave me a HS ticket and many Viny photo. Thanks, Djt! From now on, I support Viny too!

I arrived at the venue at 9:30am, it was already crowded with fans. To kill time, I walked around, looking for our base and chatted with my friends. Then, HS event got started.

At first, Viny in session 1.

I queued with my local friend… My turn came, and entered the booth.

DC: Nice to meet you! Happy birthday!
VN: Nice to meet you, too. Thanks!

Then, suddenly Viny pointed towards me and said

VN: Well… Are you Da-Chi san?
DC: R… Right. W…Why do you know my name? EEEHHH!?

I was in a panic. Viny saw me, and burst into laughter. And time’s up.

I thought somebody said “shortly Da-Chi meet you, don’t forget call his name” to Viny. Unless he did that, it was impossible she known my name. After HS with Viny I searched a suspect, but I couldn’t reach him. I didn’t know who did it, but thanks a lot! So, I didn’t talk so much with Viny but I enjoyed her smile and her “fisher-woman” style. I add Viny into my oshi. (Oshi-mashi : increase oshi member)

Session 2, with VE, my favorite

My feature has already been recognized by her, then I gave myself a mission that I let her remember my name. I have seen her several times, but my heart was beating. I entered the booth…

DC: Haaai, Veranda!
Ve: Aaah! HIsashiburi! Genkidesuka? (she spoke in Japanese: Long time no see you! How are you?)
DC: Un, Genkidayo (Yes, I’m fine) Please remember my name!
Ve: Oh, OK, OK!
DC: Just my nickname is fine. Da-Chi!
Ve: hmmm. Da…?
DC: Da-Chi
Ve: Da-Chi, Da-Chi san! OK, I remember! Now, do you finish your HS with this?
DC: No. Session 7, I come back!
Ve: Aahhh, Ureshiidesu. Mattemasu! (I’m happy. I’m waiting for you)
DC: Yap, see you later.
Ve: See you later, Da-Chi san!

Although It was first contact with her on this day, I already lost my energy. I still had 2 sessions to meet her, but at this moment I was not able to know I would lose more energy in those 2 sessions.

Basecamp

We based on a restaurant in the building on opposite side, I joined my local friends there.

I chatted about my HS experience with Viny and Ve. A fans, IKP, asked me “do you like Rona?”, I answered “Yes”. So he gave me 3 tickets for Rona. Wow! Really?? Thanks! I felt so happy. Then, another friend asked me “Do you like Dhike?”. Basically I’m team J Oshi, and I answered “Yes”. So he gave me a ticket for Dhike. I was so moved and teary-eyed. I really appreciate their kindness.

I had a little time and I walked around inside venue. On the main stage Sendy and other members were performing something, On the small stage on opposite side members were being taken photo for election poster and making their speech, and in another place Beby was doing something, they were doing various events all-at-once. It was very hot in the venue, so I couldn’t see all event. You know, even Indonesian fans couldn’t bear it.

Next, Haru-gon.

Why I met Haru-gon today? Mt. Joss, who attended last time, couldn’t attend this time due to his busy business. He had already bought some tickets, so he regretted that he was not able to join this tour, but he left me tickets for Ve and Haru-gon. Actually I want to meet Haru-gon, then I accepted his tickets gratefully. Mt. Joss, let’s come together next time.

Haru-gon was popular the same as usual. There were so many fans in front of her booth. While I was queuing, I heard Haru-gon’s voice. I looked around, oh dear, she was MC on the main stage! It was already behind the scheduled time, but she was still on the stage. Her fans queuing seemed to say “That’s the way it goes.”

Long awaited time, it was my turn.

DC: Nice to meet you. I’m from Japan.
H: Nice to meet you, too. Thanks for coming from Japan.
DC: Today, I’m going to represent JKT48 fans in Japan to say our gratitude to you, or encourage you.
H: Wow! I’m so happy.
DC: When your transfer was decided we heard many opinions such as “Can she adjust herself to her surroundings?” However, now almost all people respect you, nobody say bad things about you. Your efforts are prized very much here, and also in Japan.
H: Thanks. I’m so glad. It motivates me.
DC: Yeah, JKT48 is going to have sousenkyo (general election) soon. What do you think of it?
H: Hmmm. I don’t have good impression of sousenkyo…
DC: Could be. But you, who you are now, can do it. Try to get 1st seat.
H: Well, It may be hard to get 1st seat, but I’ll do my best to be senbatsu at least.
DC: There are many fans who are cheering you in Japan, good luck with your work. I’m afraid that team Haru-gon may get angry at me but I’d like to say you don’t need to return to Japan. Hahaha.
H: Hahaha. I will keep trying my best. Thanks for today.

Wasn’t she famous for her cold attitude in Japan? No, She was never like that. So cute. And I was surprised with her small face. She is really an idol.

Next session, Rona and Dhike.

It was already behind the scheduled time, too crowded in the venue. I queued for Rona first. But if the condition would stay this way, I wouldn’t have enough time to meet Dhike. I want to meet her, so what should I do? …After a lot of worrying, I gave up my chance to meet Dhike.

I’ve got a ticket for Dhike from my friend, I would be so sorry if it came to nothing. Then, I decided to give it to somebody queuing for Dhike. I was looking for somebody, finally I found a high school girl who had 1 ticket for Dhike. I asked her if she is Dhike-oshi, she said Dhike is her 1-Oshi. So I gave her my ticket. She was so happy and said “terima kasih” so many times. I’m sorry to my friend who gave me the ticket. However, it was good I made another fan happy.

I returned to queue for Rona. I chatted with a high school boy using baby talk Japanese, I heard he is studying Japanese. He already had 1 ticket. I gave him one, so both he and I had 2 tickets. “we’re same” I said. He was also so happy as a girl whom I met in the queue for Dhike. Then, my turn.

DC: Hi, Rona! Nice to meet you!
R: Waah, nice to meet you, too.
DC: Do you speak Japanese?
R: Hmmmm, a little bit.
DC: OK, OK! Boku no Taiyo Senshuraku, Bagus!
R: Wow, Thank you!

Small interval to think what to say next.

DC: Oh yeah, Next set-list. Ganbatte!
R: Ganbatte! Do you come from Japan?
DC: Yes. I come from Japan.
R: Thank you very much.
DC: Bye-bye. Good luck!
R: Bye! Thanks!

No specific talk, but she was so cute in my eyes. She is worth to be called “little Yuko”, her attitude was ”Kami (supreme)” and I found her aura as an Ace of K3. My oshi-mem may increase again, what can I do? Hahaha

After Rona, both the boy and the girl whom I gave my tickets came and said thanks to me. Wow! As it happens, they are friends each other. And they gave me Ve photos. I was deeply moved. Such kind of relationship makes my HS event pretty fun.

Freshboy

While I was watching the stage event, somebody talked to me “are you Japanese?” He was also a Japanese from Okinawa, fresh young guy. He visited Jakarta for his business and holidays. He had already known about JKT48, but not a fan yet. He is also not a 48G fan. He got to know HS event by chance and came to the venue today.

I took him to our base and introduced my local friends to him. As he didn’t have any oshi-mem, he didn’t buy any ticket yet. My friends got to know that, they said to him “meet this girl, please”, “why not this girl?” and gave him Ghaida, Kinal, Sendy, Dhike… Totally 7 tickets.

The fresh boy said “it’s my first meeting you, but how kind you are. How can I return a favor?” Proudly I said “it is their friendship. Enjoy!” although I was not an one who gave him a ticket. Hahaha

The Fresh boy HS with members one after another, he was so excited. I asked him which member was his best so far. “Ummm. It’s difficult… but Dhike! Anyway, all members are awesome. I have never met such cute girls yet” he said. Then, I said “Yeah, Dhike, Ghaida, all members are cute. Well, I let you meet my strongest member” and gave him a ticket for Ve. I was looking forward to hear his impression later.

Ve Again!

Now, it’s time to today’s 2nd HS with Ve. I’m curious if she remembered my name.

DC: Hello!
Ve: Oh, you come. Hello!
DC: Do you still remember my nickname?
Ve: hmmm.. Da.. Chi san? Da-Chi san!
DC: OK OK! My happiness. You still remember it, thanks!
Ve: Dou Itashimashi ta.
DC: No, wrong
DC, Ve: Dou Itashimashi te. (we say together) Hahaha
Ve: When do you return to Japan?
DC: Tomorrow. Today I finish with this.
Ve: Next… when do you see me next?
DC: I come to next HS event.

For now, she remembered my name. But I was curious again whether she remembers what we talked about, so I told a lie “today I finish with this” for a surprise. We would see what’s going on.

Short Break Time

I had a short break time. The fresh boy returned. He was still excited. I said “At last the next is Ve. You need to make up your mind to meet her because she is so cute” As I talked so much about Ve, he himself was looking forward to meeting her.

The venue was full of fans, too hot. Humidity was also high. But it was so fun to communicate with local fans. Together with fans who were queuing for Ve, we shouted “We are Veranda family!” and laughed.

Yubikiri Genman

At last, it was really a time to finish HS. How is Ve’s reaction? Or she didn’t remember what we talked before. My heart was beating.

DC: Hi!
Ve: Oh! Da-Chi san! Why? Not finished yet?
DC: Hahaha it was just a joke.
Ve: Come on, you are a liar! Hahaha

She hit my arm.

DC: I’m sorry. Anyway I come to next HS event, and I’m always Veranda fan, forever.
Ve: Really? Promise me now!

She held out her little finger. In Japan, it’s “Yubikiri Genman(pinky promise)”. Is it same in Indonesia?? I also held out my little finger.

Ve: Could you promise me?
DC: Absolutely. Good luck with your Sousenkyo.
Ve: Yes. I’ll do my best.
DC: See you again! Bye-bye! Aku cinta kamu!
Ve: Hahaha! Thanks, Bye-bye, Da-Chi san!

I almost went mad. We had pinky promise, with her full smile. I was absent‐minded. Until the fresh boy talked to me, I forgot myself. I was fascinated by her “Kami taiou” again. No matter how cute new members are, I can stay a fan of Ve. I convinced myself again.

Freshboy Pt.2

Well, how about the fresh boy? Same, he also lost himself. He said “All members are cute, but Ve is awesome! I understand Da-Chi san’s feeling. I was fascinated by her charm too” He spoke of her in the highest, so I gave him Ve poster. He was watching it so long time. I completed to increase 1 Ve-oshi. Hahaha

Summary

That’s all for my HS event. Then, I waited for the closing event.

In last HS event, I didn’t watch it due to my flight time, I missed a chance to watch the most important event. I was looking forward to watching it this time.

I moved to the event area. There were a lot of fans in front of the stage, so I positioned on the center in the back.

The event got started. New set list for K3 was also announced, but I couldn’t see the stage well because full of fans in front of me. I wish my tall would be 2m…

What touched me the best was Rachel and Vanka’s promotion to team J. It was a moment that their efforts bore fruit. I got misty eyed. I saw Japarta was crying. Congratulations, Rachel and Vanka!

All were done. It was time to say good bye to my friends. I always feel this moment the most sad. My aim to visit Jakarta is to meet JKT48. However, if I haven’t met local friends before, I think I don’t come here so many times. Even if someday JKT48 will not be here any longer, I’m going to come to Jakarta to meet you, guys. I love you!

I appreciate all guys that I met in Jakarta. Thanks for a great time. I’ll be here again. See you in next HS event!!

Before HS

Since I have got like to like JKT48…

I have been mad about her…Beby-chan is adorably cute

Just one year has passed…

Yes, it was just before Beby-chan’s birthday…

But…

I have never been thinking I would have any chance to attend HS event…

Even though their concept is “Idol you can meet”, I myself am hard-core old man, you know…

I thought members would not be happy if an old man come to see them… Hahaha

Then…

This time, many people worked together. Even though we haven’t met before, an invisible sense of solidarity such as “we are Wota, why don’t we help each other?” worked well. It helped me to get 2 HS tickets.

I was relishing happiness because I can speak Bahasa Indonesia, a little.

And I was deeply touched and moved to tears because I felt total and pure adoration from Indonesian young generation who are addicted to Japan. (Well, also it may be because I grew old and I am easily moved to tears ) There were some guys who can speak Japanese a bit.

On the other hand, DC-san, who is not good at Bahasa Indonesia, made me convinced that communication is a correspondence heart to heart. His passion is awesome! He tells of his feelings enthusiastically in Japanese with a little English. And then, his passion gradually makes Indonesian guys to try to understand his words by any means. Guys who understand Japanese also manage to translate his words. It was a wonderful scene.

DC-san is hoping to be able to speak Bahasa Indonesia. I’m sure, once he starts to learn he is super-express until he masters it. Because no other reason but he is eager for talking to Ve in Bahasa Indonesia. It is both pure and impure reason.

We set our base in a corner of restaurant in the building on the opposite side of the venue. If it is time to HS, we go out from our base. After HS, we return there and take a rest. When I arrived there, this system was already running among my friends.

When I was waiting for a session, Angga introduced me to many local friends. After that, the first thing we did was to know oshi-mem each other. It’s a part of greetings. Hahaha

Then, if a friend got to know my oshi is Beby, mostly he opened his photo album and check it. If he had any Beby photo, he picked it out and gave me. “it’s doubled, so one is for you” or “My oshi is not her, take it”… Can you believe that? although it’s our first meeting… Even I didn’t understand what were they going to do at first.
