What Should I Say ??
Say, if one day, you got the chance to meet the girls directly and having a chance to say a word or two to them, what should you say to them ? Well, some of them knows how to speak English very well, so perhaps English is okay to use. But what if you would like to say something to those who are not a very good English speaker ?
And perhaps by saying things in Indonesian could leave some impression on them and made the girls happier to have an overseas fans who would tell them something in Indonesian, which is a rarity considering Bahasa Indonesia is not the main course for foreign languages to learn (except for some schools in Australia and obviously Timor Leste).
So if you’ve been wondering “What should I say if ever met the girls ?? What language should I use ? Will they understand what I’m saying ?”, then the answers relies on this 5 languages :
1. Bahasa Indonesia
2. English
Most of the girls knows how to communicate in English well, especially Ve, Stella, Rena, Sonya, Cindy and perhaps Diasta. Ayana doesn’t understand English (refer to the show when Cyril Takayama is one of the guests). Melody and perhaps the rest of the girls knows how to speak in English but seems to prefer speaking in Bahasa while communicating verbally due to various reasons.
3. Japanese
Ayana and Rena’s mother tongue (and of course, Harusan and Akicha soon), Ghaida and Dhike is in the process of learning it now with formal education while Rica have just started buying the books to learn the language. Diasta understands Japanese passively. I don’t know about the other girls, but most of them shows interest in the language and could understand some simple words, but not sentences yet.
4. Mandarin
Sonya’s Mandarin is pretty good. Shania, Cindy and maybe Sendy understand Mandarin a little bit too I think.
5. French
Rena understand a little bit of French.
That’s the 5 main languages. Using each one of them is fine but very dependent on which girls you would like to say something to. The safest route would be of course using Bahasa Indonesia.
Here are some example for you to start :
1. Introducing yourself
“My name is David (and I’m) from New York” in Bahasa Indonesia would be “Nama Saya David dari New York”

2. Tell the member how happy you are to be able to talk with her
“I’m really happy to be able to talk with you” in Bahasa Indonesia would be “Aku sangat senang bisa bicara dengan Kamu”
[ca_audio url=”http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13007841/JKT48/namasaya2.mp3″ width=”500″ height=”27″ css_class=”codeart-google-mp3-player”]
3. Give the girls some encouragement
“Good Luck!” or perhaps in Japanese “Ganbatte ne!” in Bahasa Indonesia would be “Semangat ya!”
[ca_audio url=”http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13007841/JKT48/namasaya3.mp3″ width=”500″ height=”27″ css_class=”codeart-google-mp3-player”]
If somehow the girls said “Thank you!” or “Terima Kasih!” you could answered simply by “Sama-sama!” or “You’re welcome!” is okay as well.
Well, that’s the example, not much but I hope it could help even for a little bit if somehow you got the chance to meet the girls directly and have a chance to talk with them for a few seconds. I apologize beforehand if my English accent sounds weird in the audio recording or perhaps my voice annoyed you somehow.
impressive!
