Satria Garuda BIMA-X Opening and Ending Sequences

As previously reported in our Satria Garuda BIMA-X press conference report, the ending theme song for the series would be performed by Japanese pop-rock band flumpool, while there was no news at that time of who would perform the opening.

It was later revealed in the broadcast of the special episode, alternatively known as episode 0, that flumpool’s contribution is the new song “Let Tomorrow Be”. The episode also revealed that the Indonesian pop-rock band Ungu would reprise their role as the opening theme song performer, having contributed another song for the first series BIMA Satria Garuda.

As of this writing, RCTI has aired three episodes of the series. The first two episodes contained a soundfonted drum sequencer for the opening song by Ungu (“Kembali Bertahan”) and sounded more like an unmastered mixdown from Pro Tools rather than an actual mastered recording.

As expected, this attracted critics from netizens who viewed the opening video sequence when it was uploaded on YouTube. The third episode, however, contained a more refined and mastered soundtrack. This issue was not present in the ending theme song by flumpool.

Ungu was formed in Jakarta in 1996. Known initially for their upbeat major releases, their style eventually shifted to pop ballad, gained prominence in the Indonesian music industry around 2004–2005.

The band gained mainstream popularity in Malaysia around 2006 with the release of their single “Demi Waktu”. We believe this is a major boost for the Satria series if it attempts to enter the Malaysian market.

Flumpool (stylized as flumpool) is a four-man Japanese pop-rock band. The band, originally from Osaka Prefecture, was formed in January 2007. The band’s name is derived from the English word “four”, since there are four members, they took the first letter “F”, along with the word meaning mass, “lump” and the word “pool”.

On October 1, 2008, the band released a digital single named “Hana ni Nare” (花になれ, “Become a Flower”). Their debut mini-album (though its length is over 48 minutes) Unreal was released on November 10, 2008. Unreal received Platinum certification from the RIAJ for its shipment of 250,000 copies.

The inclusion of flumpool might be an indication that the Satria series will try to break into the Japanese market, be it through a Blu-ray and/or DVD release or a television broadcast. Pessimistically, it might only symbolize the joint production effort of the series without any further intention.

There is no news on whether the production companies will release Satria series on Blu-ray and/or DVD, but we can gather from the initial press conference that rights to the first series have been sold to several markets in Southeast Asia.

As for the cast, the inclusion of Thalia of JKT48 Team KIII can become a major boost for local and international fans of JKT48. Unfortunately, there is currently no feasible way for international fans to follow Thalia’s performance.
