    3) b*t*hslap the dude with a frypan and yelled to the dude to sleep on the couch
    4) ultimatum; choose them (refer to JKT), or me (refer to herself)
    5) mindpoisoning the dude with K-pop boyband (or local boyband)
    6) other craziness that wife usually do

Intresting article. I (Tomo) am a middle-age person(male), married, 3 kids (all girls), working and living in Tokyo. Our girls can be the ones of 3rd Gen. Sorry joking. And more, lovin’ JKT48. I remember the time when I confessed that I was falling love with JKT48 in Jakarta to my wife. It was probably in Nov. 2011, almost established. My wife responded to me “Why not AKB, Akihabara but JKT, Jakarta?”. Please don’t misunderstand that my wife does not like Jakarta and also your country. For her eyes and mind, Ubud in Bali represents all Indonesia. We all visited that samll village several time. Always Hatta airport was a just transit. I had to explain the detail defference between AKB and JKT to my wife. Such as JKT48 was energetic, ernest and pure than AKB bra bra bra…My wife could not understand what I said to her. Even though about AKB, she hates it so much. She felt disgusted many AKB songs sung by her clients and colleagues at Karaoke room. She thought “they were so childish”. But finally she agrred my love with JKT. She said “Jakarta is OK, but if Akihabara not OK. Coz. it is capital city of Indonesia that we love”.
She also said “Recently you(Tomo) have so many topics about Indonesia on our table”. Yes, exactly she is right. After I started to love JKT48, I was changed to gather information reffering to Indonesia from newspaper(my house subsclibing an economical newspaper “Nikkei”), magazines and sure TV as many as possible.
The one of my facebook friends in Indonesia, Parsuan( wrong type? a town close to Surabaya) is higly interested in diplomatical issues. The debates with him are the good study about your country. I am running my own marketing and trading office. As you can see, several clients have been highly interested in the business in Indonesia (but I think, it’s too late). the rising country in your ASEAN region. But there is totally different point. Loving JKT48 or don’t know its existance or not interested. About my wife, in those days, she can easilly introduce me to her friends as “My husband is JKT48 WOTA”. Thanks my wife. Ha Ha Ha:)

    • HERMAN says:

Jesus Christ, man! I thought you are a young lady! Is “Tomo”supposed to be a woman’s name? Well, it’s not your real name, isn’t it? (Oh, by the way, it is “Pasuruan”, Inul’s hometown.)

    • benimaru says:

your wife didn’t slap you with a frypan?

  4. sunred says:

Ah, fans-demography talk, I think this is interesting, since JKT’s fan demographics seems to be a little different from that of AKB.

I am turning 32 this year, kids and wife, working and living in Australia.
Years ago, when I was still doing hands-on software development, I travelled to Indonesia a lot, mostly dealing with mining and petroleoum companies and their systems.
Every year we go to Japan for holidays and I’ve always allocated time to drop by the AKB theatre.
My wife has no problem with it, even if I buy a ‘bit’ more on election singles :).
She knows I have always been into this idoling world since SPEED, Morning Musume, and the many others before the advent of AKB.

My daughter loves AKB too fortunately, but we’re yet lucky enough to get the JKT tickets.
Rather than the 10++ hours flight to Japan, Jakarta can easily be our closer and cheaper weekend escape.

  5. Tomo says:

HERMAN san. Are you disappointed with me? Even if disapointed, please alow me to continue to post my comments on JKT48Stuff. We, in Japan, have so many names easily beeing transfered to nickname as “Tomo”. So such as “Tomo chin” for Itano Tomomi of AKB. But also for men, such as “Tomokichi ( not my real name ) transfered to Tomo or Tomo chan. Hi, benimaru san. Fortunately my wife did not slap me with a flypan. But till the 1st Megacon, July 2012, she worried about what JKT was with her worried face. We all, my family, togethar enjoyed that good concert on Okezone as real time. All of my family, fortunately, satisfied about what JKT48 is. Regarding the demography of AKB48, from my experience, it seems that grown from kindergarden kids to around 80 years old in Japan. So we call AKB48 as “Kokumin Teki Idol (National Idol)”. Generally speaking, idols for teeenagers and young adult. But 48 went far beyond that prejudice. As I commented before, huge number of Japanese people tend to sing 48 songs in Karaoke rooms. I am the person that believe the ratio of number of singing quantity represents its populality in Japan. Honestly I don’t like Karaoke. But as the one of markting pros, always I have been paying attention on Karaoke market in Japan. As the proof, “Heavy Rotation” and “Aitakkata” have been the No.1 songs sung as Karaoke in Japan. Anyway, aku sayang JKT48 sekali. Because JKT48 is the great mixture of Japanese 48 characters with Indonesian good specialty ( Just I think. I don’t know my thouts are correct ro wrong ) such as “Open”, “Passionate” and “Optimistic”. Again please kindly don’t discrimonate me, coz.I am a middle-age man:)

    • Angga says:

As long as we love the girls partner :D

Hope your family enjoys JKT48 too and my best regards to them!

    • HERMAN says:

Of course not, man. Of course not…. just a bit shocked, because….you know, in my country 99% of JKT48 fans are lads. Who’ll dicriminate you, man? No one will. We’re all brothers.

    • benimaru says:

      be relax mr.Tomo..

opinion is relative (there’s always pros and cons in every opinion)..

from Herman bro sentences, it can be assumed that he is still in his journey to find the right person to “accompany” him aka jomblo..

glad to hear that JKT can be accepted in japan (especially for family oriented market)..

and yes, you right about the great mixture between Indonesia and Japan.. both group can be an efficient ambassador to promote their own culture..

but mr. Tomo, if you don’t mind, can you gave me a brief explanation why your wife thought JKT is ok, while AKB is not? (consider they are from the same source => big bro Akimoto).. and also about the AKB bra bra bra? (no dirty mind intended, seriously)

      • Tomo says:

Well benimaru san. My wife has a strong prejudice that the fans of AKB are “too much childish” people. In other words, “imatured” even though they are elderly people. She is working at novels editing arena. So, or just tendency, she has been having contempt for commercial pop music. Why JKT48 is accepted by my wife? She has a sort of exotic dream on your country from our several trips to Bali. Not yet Jakarta. She loves all Indonesian culture. Also she likes Bahasa (Unfortunately, not good at English) We both
are studying Bahsa in Tokyo. Not yet fluent, but some day. So probably she accepted JKT48 while AKB not. On the other hand, me. I had a dream to be a pop song writer when I was a university student. I chalenged record company’s audtions as many as possible. But unfortunately, failed. Anyway, I strongly love all pop music not only Japan but also overseas. From my point of view, “Heavy Rotation” , “Kimi Suki” and “Aitakkata” are the ones of greatly created Japanese pop tunes in these days. Before those 48 songs, Akimoto san created one legendary pop song “KayouKyoku”, its name “Kawa No Nagre No Youni ( literally translated, “Like a stream of a river”. So I highly dedicate my respectation for Akimoto san. Finally I don’t think the fans for 48, including JKT are not “imatured”. I want to say that they all are pop song lovers. At the same time, they, including me, enjoy the journy together with JKT48 girls. I believe it is so delightful. Don’t you think so?

        • benimaru says:

that is really a brilliant thought mr. Tomo :)

me totally agree that we are actually just a common pop music lover..

and once again, me agree that enjoying the growth of few girls, from nothing to everything, is very interesting and amusing..

sorry if it is out of topic, but it is a great honor for us, Indonesian, that foreigners such as you, can enjoy many things in a brief of time here in Indonesia (you even eager to learn bahasa indonesia :) , which make me preety proud )..

say, why don’t you try composing lyric for JKT girls?

        • Haddad says:

Whoah! I really think you should write some article and share your thought about the idoling culture or your personal story about being overseas idol fans. That will give us who lives in Indonesia some interesting insight.

          • Tomo says:

Please ask Akimoto san to write more 48 songs. Not me:)

          • Haddad says:

            いいえ、曲を書くではありません。
            ただこのファンベースについての意見を知りたくて、そこからこのサイトに記事を書くだけです。 :-D

    • Haddad says:

I think Herman didn’t really disappointed by you, He’s just simply shocked by the fact that you’re a man since he thought that you’re a girl judging from your name. And It’s always fun to see some other overseas fans give their thought about JKT48

  6. HERMAN says:

Look, i think what we have here is a problem about “a bit too old” fella who loves to watch teenagers with mini skirts. Well, i don’t know what they’ll say outhere, but in this “religious” country most people will take that phenomena as….uhm …rather disturbing issue. (It’s called “geuleuh” in Sundanese dialect.) That’s more like a basic cultural problem. They’d say, those who have climbed out of her twenties are supposed to love “oldman music” such as Jazz, Blues, Keroncong, or Klonengan (Like my granpa did, God rests his soul…).The inherently cheerful and energetic music of JKT48 are just not suitable for them, not anymore. (Not to mention the “mini skirts” issue which can be more “disturbing”)

So, unless you want your wife kick your old ass out of the house or the conservative party sue you with a pedophilia accusation, you should became a wota by the “kosher” ways. I refer “kosher” here as: no “Lebay”, no “Alay”, no”Norak”, no braggin’ of the girls in front of your wife (because no way she can beat the girls, physically), and many other “nos”. I mean stay low profile, stay dark, stay in the shadow and you’ll be just fine.

For Haddad: You’re freakin’ irresistible, man! Another well done. Great issues, great translation, great man.

    • Angga says:

Depends on who, how, when, why ;)

I never shy away to let people know how much I love the girls nor how I always bragged about them to people especially my guys in the office and they still respect me whatsoever as that is my personal hobby and what they see is how I behave as a professional.

My ex doesn’t find it troublesome too as she knows how much I love the girls when we were still together, she even bought me some of the merchandise  . And mind you, she preferred to watch Dir~en~Grey rather than your general pop-rock concert.

So really, it is all depends on who, how, when, why and there is absolutely no generalization for this matter. As I’ve said before, each to his own :D.

    • Haddad says:

Thank you man, it’s just that i had enough free time to do something like this

    • HERMAN says:

Then, lucky for you, man. Having very nice people around you who’ll appreciate either whoever you are or whatever you like. That can’t be better. Nevertheless, not everyone as lucky as you do, especially if you live among conservative and religious society.

    • benimaru says:

me wife braggin about park bom and choi si won..

than me start braggin about ritchie blackmore and jimmy page..

she still noisy, added lee min ho and jang dong gun to the argument..

me added viviyona apriani, show her the picture when yona cosplaying asuka lanngley..

“she didn’t have any surgery duh” me told me wife..

      and it became sooo silent…

  7. Haddad says:

Oh, yeah! by the way, talking about demographics, a few weeks ago Twitter user named @pitra share an interesting slide about the result of a survey to fellow JKT48 fans which he conducted himself. And I think it’s really represent the current condition of JKT48 fandom here in Indonesia. you could see the slide here:
    http://www.slideshare.net/anakcerdas/jkt48-fans

    • benimaru says:

hey, the number of fans is actually greater outside jakarta :-D

      surprising :) :)

one major drawback (if not retarded) fact from that survey is; most school kids spend their money more on swag and theater ticket than educational stuff  :-? :-?

me believe their parents working hard day and night to educated them till the highest degree.. not to see them became zombie ota 8-O 8-O

      kids this days..

      • HERMAN says:

Oh maaan! Those kids…they’re……they’re….. becoming thigh-thirsty zombies!! They will rip the girls apart into pieces!! And theJOT can do nothing, because they’re too busy calculating their profit! What should we do? Heeeelp!! (Too bad there aren’t competent people like, say: Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy, to deal with those zombies and save the day.)
