Fascinated by JKT48

This is another translation that I’ve finished. I decided to translate this article not only because of it’s comedic nature, but also because it’s pictures how JKT48 have finally began to spread into the daily life of other people besides the fans. Oh, and also as a proof that not everyone that’s fascinated by JKT48 is a single.

So without further ado, the translation itself.

In the midst of K-Pop increasing popularity, it turned out that Japanese style JKT48 could steal the attention of many music listeners in Indonesia. JKT48 is produced by Yasushi Akimoto, which follows the style of its Japanese version, the AKB48 group.

Why did I becoming interested in discussing this group all of a sudden? Because as it turns out there are some people from various circle imaginable attracted to this groups. Night is getting late, and suddenly one of my friends, let’s just call her Mbak Yayat (intentionally not a pseudonym .. hahahaha ..), share some photos on KYB* WhatsApp group, whose her first daughter named Lana, is in a state of high-level concentration watching the action of JKT48 in one television station.

Then another friend of mine, let’s just say her name Mrs. Seno (this one could be a pseudonym, because her real name is Teh Icho . Hahaha), she said that her daughter named Della who is also maniacally into JKT48, she even ate JKT48 magazine for breakfast, when she just woke up in the morning. Della probably wanted to say “If my breakfast is JKT48 magazine, is that a matter-zine for yaaahhh..?!!” (#eh… Hihihi)
[TN: actually it’s the official guidebook, and Bahasa Indonesia for “Magazine” is “Majalah”, while for “Problem/Matter” its “Masalah”, notice the pun here?]

As usual, I naively said, “Even my hubby is fascinated by JKT48…” And thus the bullying session is unavoidable. But next, there’s always another confessions. A friend, let’s call her Mbak Dina (once again, this is not a pseudonym) claimed that her husband also adored JKT48.

What the hell is this?? Why are these old school men hooked with JKT48??!! Even Mbak Dina says, her Husband’s sister-in-law heavily adoring them.. Geeeeezzzzz this is just tooooooooooo much.. It seems the guys in KYB* Whatsapp group also idolize JKT48, though they’re just too shy to admit it. I suspect, they’re actually have become the member of JKT48 Fanclub (voodooing them with all my might…) And just like that, JKT48, often the subject of our conversation in KYB* Whatsapp group.

Speaking of my husband who had long given up on acting romantic, suddenly in a gloomy afternoon (overcast -writer), as I was nodding off in the office, he send me a WhatsApp message, that reads like this:

“Kamu berharga, lebih dari siapapun. Dari hatiku, dengan tulus kukatakan..”

Taaa daaa… I was shocked, almost fainted, excited, cheeks heating up, but not as far as chapped dry lips tho’. What kind of spirits that possessing my husband? Why did he become so romantic again suddenly…??!! I’m confused by what should I reply, afraid if I give the wrong expression, my husband would finally give up to act romantic anymore. When I was just about to reply with: “Whoa…”

My husband continued his chat: “Copied from JKT48…”

… I’m seriously laughing out loud alone in my office, until I cramped my stomach. And my husband continues his chat: “The title is Aitakatta…”

Can I collapse now? Outrageous….while his wife is hurting his stomach from laughing… he actually shared the lyrics from Aitakatta. Geeeezzzz…

Arrived at home, when I said, “How could you suddenly become so funny sending me the lyrics of Aitakatta, I become too over-confident…” And my husband instead give me an information, “Actually JKT48 had their own theater at FX Sudirman, there are regular concerts, it’s Rp 100.000,- to watch one show. Maybe it would be fun if we occasionally come and watch it huh….” now I’m gonna faint for real hahahahah.

And he continued, “It turns out if you want to be a member of the fan club, you had to pay Rp 220.000” Hello? what are you implying??!!!

And I asked, “Why did you really like JKT48?”

My husband said, “Since it’s fun to see how energetic they are, especially the AKB48 which is much moooreeee energetic….”

Seriously, It was still hard for me to even think about it…..it’s way too outrageous…. (Laugh)

Moral of the day: Memorize the lyrics of every song that your husband likes, do not let yourself laughing out loud for being too over-confident. (Laugh)
