Melody’s Inauguration as Okayama’s Fruit Ambassador
Today, August 26th, Okayama prefecture appointed JKT48 (sister group of AKB48, which is based in Jakarta, Indonesia) member Melody Nurramdhani Laksani (21) as “Okayama Fruit Taishi (Okayama Fruit Ambassador)” to market their speciality fruit to overseas.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the prefectural office. Agriculture manager, Mr. Kazuo Sato handed her the letter of appointment and Tasuki (Sash). “I have had an interest in Japanese advanced agriculture before and I want to introduce the good points of Okayama’s fruits to Indonesia,” said Melody.
Okayama prefecture, in an effort to increase their presence in Indonesia, asked Melody to take her new role as an ambassador whom also studies agriculture technology at local (Indonesia) university. From 26th to 28th (3 days), she will experiences the harvesting of peach and grapes at an undisclosed farmhouse in Okayama. While in September, she will become the spokesperson for Okayama’s fruits in Jakarta.
If Melody will obtain someting beneficial for her study in Okayama, it makes me happy

Heri (correct?) san. The large park behind Melody is “Okayama Korakuen (a “large” Japanese garden)”. The sentences explain 1) Melody is to be assigned as the Okayama fruits ambassador. 2) Melody’s major in the university is agriculture. 3) Melody’s dream is to be staff of Ministry of Agriculture. I can see one camera man. Probably he is from TRANS7. And I guess the TV crew and Melody visited Okayama Korakuen to be shot a sort of “very Japanese” place
Probably you already knew. But if you don’t remenber. Melody visited Takamatsu Nougyou Kou-Kou (Tkamatsu: kota, Nogyou Kou-Kou: agricultural high school) on 26th. Melody and with the students harvested grapes. Then counted the sugar content. Melody said “Sweet and delicious”. From27th, Melody works at the farmer’s place and observe “fruits slection (choose the good fruits from the all they harvested) area”. Anyway, I realy want to be a student of that high school and work together with Melody. BTW, maaf. My own snap-shot survey results. Several local newspapers covered this Melody’s Okayama stay. First of all, Sanyo “Shinbun (newspaper)” is the local newspaper circulated in Okayama prefecture prepared their own article. Some, such as Kahoku, so far away from Okayama, north-east direction, based in Sendai city, the center of the last huge earthquake and Tsunami area, Shinano-Mainichi and Tokyo Shinbun cover this happy happening in Okayama. I obsereved in detail. The local news papers adopted the news article content regarding Melody Okayama case from Kyodo-Tsushin (the news contents preparation and providing compnay). Kyodo was founded by almost of all local newspapers nationwide. Minute by minute, local newspaper companies has been working under the Kyodo’s information shower or squall. But I believe many editorial staff of each local news were captive by Melody’s sweet and fascinating smile they witnessed in the digital image data from Kyodo. I guess it suddenly appeared on the PC displays. If it was a midnight, they stood up from thier napping sofa in the editorial room at once. (My image of the editorial room is so old?)
Then it’s clear why they expand 48 overseas to Indonesia. It’s the government agenda who want to expand their market (culture, product etc)/COOL JAPAN. firstly because Indonesia is the center of southeast asia. Also there are more than 230 millions of people here. so Melody (indonesian) about to promote japanese fruits to indonesia (not indonesia’s to japan)??

I kind of agree with you Dinar (whether it’s governmental agenda or not), because JKT is the sister group of AKB, it’s like a Japan’s company opening a branch in Indonesia. Not surprisingly if they using JKT to promote their prefecture. Good things for Melody though.

Even if there’s no JKT48 or Cool Japan tagline, the Japanese companies will still expand to Indonesia. Japan is the biggest creditor to Indonesia since a long time ago. It makes sense if Indonesian government treat Japanese investor more favorably than other countries.

The summaries are 1) the reason of Melody’s appointment, 2) Melody’s data (I think that the univesity where Melody attends is the one of the famous national universities are emphasized). Probably this means that Okayama prefecture office wants to introduce Melody as the clever lady to the prefecture residents including farming families, and also to the all local people and the prefecture offices. 3) Melody has her dream to work as the staff of Ministry of Agriculture, 4) Melody’s schedule in Okayama and 4) Melody will promosi the Okayama shop in Jakarta as the next step.
