Anon Report : Rena’s Development Diary I

Report of November, 15th Team K show. Prepared solely for reporting Rena’s development in Team K.

I watched Rena’s Team J show twice at JKT48 theater, and this is the first time I watch her Team K show in theater.

Before that, I watched her first show (9th October) as Team K by live streaming.

My impression at that time:

She can dance well at cute songs like ”Candy”, ”Hashire! Penguin” and “Heavy Rotation” Because she did that at JKT48.

But other songs, especially serious or powerful songs like ”Scrap&Build”, ”ALIVE”, ”Korogaru ishi ni nare”, her performance isn’t that good.

But that is her first day, I think so at that time.

Next week 16th October, Rena attended “Anta Dare?” (AKB’s TV program). At that program she did “Nounai Paradise”, ”Hashire! Penguin”, ”Scrap&Build” with Maria Abe, Shihori Suzuki, Nana Fujita. “Hashire! Penguin” is good, but the other 2 songs, not so much. Her performance doesn’t even compared with the other members.

So, before I went to the theater today, there’s already this bad image of Rena performing in a powerful song engraved in my brain, or so I thought.

Fortunately, I can sit on the 1st row on the left side.

At first I was surprised at her height. I know her well and met at HS several times. I think Maria Abe, Ami Maeda, Shihori Suzuki are taller than Rena by their profile. But she is apparently taller than Maria & Ami, and as tall as Shihori???

So, her presence is conspicuous at the theater.

Then.. She surprised me with her quite better performance compared to her debut and Anta Dare. I checked her performance and focused solely on her on serious or powerful songs. Because that is her main weak point I think.

To my surprise, she can dance “Scrap&Build”, ”ALIVE”, ”Korogaru ishi ni nare” pretty well.

She still danced better on cute songs though, especially on her unit song, “Candy”. That song fits Rena well.

In the middle of some songs, members make eye contact with other members. At ”Honest man” she enjoyed that with Nana Fujita. But I guess she has no courage to make eye contact with the audiences? Her catch phrase at AKB48 is “I can’t watch (make eye contact) with you because I’m embarrassed. But I want you to watch me firmly.” Something like that? I think so.

MC1 ”Talk about AKB songs that you like and the memory of that”

Rena : I like 2songs, ”Tenshi no shippo” and ”Shiroi shirts”. I did both at revival show JKT theater. “Tenshi no shippo” is my first unit song. When I received that,I think ”Can I do this song???”, but then, I became to love that song. At”Shiroi shirts” I enjoyed waving hands with members, that is my memory

MC2 “What do you do when you come home–>What do you do before sleep to sleep well” (Rena,Asuka Kuramochi,Rina Hirata,Kana Kobayashi,Chisato Nakata,Ami Maeda)

There are 6 members, but Rena said nothing…

MC3 ”Talk about other member’s secret”

Maria Abe raised her hand and start talking.

Maria : About Rena-chan. Last month Harugon-san came to AKB48 theater to watch Team K show. Before that show, Rena-chan, Harugon-san, me were at backstage. Rena-chan talks like this ”Rena-ha-“ (Maria imitated Rena’s high-tone voice) usually. But when she talked with Harugon-sa n”Rena ha!!” (She imitated again but with a more firm and warm voice) and became a chatter. I’m surprised about that.

Haruka Shimada : So, are you saying that she haven’t accustomed to us yet?

Someone(Kana Kobayashi?) : With Harugon, she became more talkative, maybe that affects her?

Rena : Ah…I have this sort of switch, When the switch is on, I changed

Someone(Maria Abe?) : So, we have to find her switch!

Asuka : All right. You are now officially her “switch staff”, Abema!!

My impression about her MC. Actually she can talk more than before. But she just “reacted” when other members talk to her. At MC2 she said nothing at all. Now senior members take care of her, especially Shihori Suzuki, Haruka Shimada, Rina Hirata. But she have to become more active. Rina Hirata, her Japanese isn’t that good, but she is active. I hope she will follow her example.

Fortunately she already made friend with Rina. And Shihori sometimes invites Rena for a private meeting. I hope she will make friends with other members, and also can talk a lot at theater’s MC.

And she start “Indonesian Language Lesson” series on her G+. Japanese fans wrote ”Your voice is cute” on her comment space. I think that is good idea to appeal herself more to Japanese fans.
