This abrupt ends is a polar opposite to what the censorship institution website database for JKT48 Missions having at least episode 20 in queue
And the most recent Missions episode still have the usual narrator saying: “See you next week!”
There’s no known reason for this abrupt ends, or should I say, indefinite hiatus until further announcement.
The Twitterverse reaction is unusually ended up with one solid voice, asking for the program new season or an encore. Although somehow, I have a pretty much different perspective about the show ending so abruptly.
Mission Failed? Not yet, this is my own opinion of the show:
What I think
For me, The show is getting stale lately or so to speak. Basing myself on JKT48Stuff YouTube channel analytic with a very small sample, the views are dwindling in each and every episode for both Japanese translation and English Translation. I tried to release the subs slower or faster with no result at all, the views are still dwindling. Of course, this doesn’t represent the rating for the show at all, I’m just saying that the interest towards the show, at least for English/Japanese speakers are dwindling.
I still have some request for the show translation after deciding myself (not JKT48Stuff, mind you) not to translate the last two episodes, but it was minimal at best.
The documentary style narrated by a third party -most of the time- is fresh at first. But as the episodes went on, I reached a point where I felt bored in translating the show since there were minimal interaction or something that people could learn about the girls as I was forced to listen to a somewhat redundant 3rd party narration that is actually the main star of the show instead of the girls (with a lot more “screen” time at least in audio department). Same with the other typical Indonesian show with the myth they will have to comply: “This is the format that general Indonesians like”
Let’s Speculate!
Perhaps -and this is still a big speculation- the show rating is dwindling too albeit not too much since even at how bored I am with the show, I still forced myself to watch the show just to see the girls having some fun and getting some additional knowledge. My most favorite episode is the Angklung, Kinal Graduation, and most probably, Melody in Okayama part 2 where she spent a night with a local family would be another favorite of mine. Alas, the decision to put the show on hold came before that episode aired.
Trans7 perhaps decided to refresh the show with new opening or decided to suspend the show for a while to make sure that viewers don’t get bored. Although I somehow skeptical they will change the documentary 3rd Party narration format whatsoever.
Or perhaps, the partnership between Trans7 and JKT48 has reached an end and currently they still working on the new partnership contract? I don’t know, but there is always this possibility.
But then again, that is all just speculation I could think of with this thick head of mine.
Angga, Do You Miss The Show?
Hell yes I am! No matter how much I got bored with the format, it is still the girls’ show and it is the only Indonesian TV show I can cope with on Sunday. But if indefinite hiatus means that they will be back with a better format someday in the future, then I will certainly agree with their decision to put the program on hold. Anything for a better and hopefully breakthrough TV program for the girls.
JKT48Story do that too, with 2 weeks of hiatus and hopefully, they will be back with a better format and less goofy MC act (Enough with that “Kore wo Chekku”). Hopefully, they will make it as simple and as interesting as the unused scene they uploaded on YouTube. Kind of ironic that their unused scene is so much better that the show itself (Refer to their recent upload about Rena), even the MC (Valda Rompas) scene in the unused scene is so much better than the show with me able to smile a little bit when the girls avoided him like a plague or when Nabilah teach him how to do basic chant. Simple, minimal, no high volume background music, no over-the-top narration, just flows naturally like that.
So?
Cross your fingers and keep hoping that JKT48 Missions will be back with a much better format and can be the ground for the girls breakthrough TV Show.
And now, it is the fans turn for a mission of their own: Ask for an encore. Not only your usual encore, but a better encore AND patiently wait

<Angga、

“Kore wo Chekku” haha,, i know that feel bro, it is from platinum TVchannel .
somehow i’m expecting more from trans7, maybe they look at it not profitable if they continue like this. it is like “one step back to go one step further”. the JKT48Mission is just a small step, a testing water. And they just starting the real show. I think it is almost impossible to say this show have low rating. beside, we know their work are always best and receive many kudos from many fans.
Noo.. already? Two weeks ago, my friend told me that jkt48missions would be over. He claimed that he had a friend in transcorp and informed him about the situation. I thought it was a joke. Then he explained that it’s all because a ‘clash’ between Trans and MNC. It could be JKT48Mission vs JKT48 Story. I mean, as far as we knew.. both programs had their own perspective. And somehow they complete each other. I believe the fans would be agree with that. but from the production’s ‘perspective’, they might competing each other. Like Trans nya ‘NGAMBEK’ gitu? I don’t know. And i still hope that it’s a purely hoax. *crossmyfingers
And somehow i still hoping that JKT48 will have their own AKBingo kind of show.
business competition
more over, each of those tv station boss are sworn political enemy
+1, next year is indonesian sousenkyo, which make the girls as a crowd (in this case, the elector) attractor..
MNC is the 1st media group who brought this 48 concept to indonesia, it is natural if they felt like they actually own those girls..
besides, if it is because low ratings, this so called mission still have a lot of advertisement tho..
I see, benimaru-san. So It could be about politic before the election 2014? Make sense sih. Aaaaarrrggghh i hate when my favorite things become exploited for politics reason. There were times when Soccer ups.. football’s been expolited by a man from yellow side, now jkt48 for the newcomer?? Let’s hope not!
Is there any source whatsoever in relation to the ratings this program had? I’m curious to see what was considered ‘insufficient.’
But yeah, the program was OK. Honestly, it wasn’t special, but then again it wasn’t bad either.
KPI (Indonesia Broadcasting Commission) representative’s opinion on JKT48Missions: http://www.kpi.go.id/index.php/lihat-apresiasi/view-submission/5343
This is the end of my sunday……
Oh god, i hope this TV program can run again in future time…..
the end of “wotas day”
Good article Angga! The Mission has ended due to low ratings and shares from its recent episodes (share of 8 and 7 and then 6, while normally it got at least a share of 10).
Thus the programming divison of TRANS7 panicked and decided to put up a new show, which is no way guarantee a big rating and share.
The replacement show (SMS) has been planned though..when they decided to fix the low ratings, it came down to replacing Mission or Wollipop…Sadly, Mission had a negative trend recently, so Missions was ended abruply.
Changing the air time was not an option because there was no slot available for the show, according to the programming division.
The decision came so sudden that unknowingly to the team behind the mission, they still put “see you next week” on Melody part 1 and was planning to shoot a new episode.
(FYI, although the LSF have registered 30 eps. of missions, in fact the number of eps. shot by the team have not reached 30 eps. yet. Try to look at it as a slot or registration in advance)
It may be a surprise to a lot of fans that the ratings were low..But there’s what is called Nielsen Audiences. They are whose TVs are monitored by Nielsen and where the ratings and shares are gathered. So…it is too bad that the fans are mostly not the Nielsen Audience.
It is such a waste that the show was ended considering the girls are getting popular. Perhaps if the programming division waited, the rating could had been better, after some touch up to fix the show of course. But those in the division are too stuborn and too dumb to see the potential and are too blind to see the quality of content and what it gives to the audiences…What a waste indeed.
In the end…We should hope that the remaining eps. will be aired (there’s a talk to air it on holiday season) so that the team and the fans will have a chance to say their farewell. Maybe if the ratings are good for the remaining eps., TRANS7 will revive the show *fingers crossed*…before another TV make a new show for the girls.
It has been a great pleasure to see the girls on the show.
that is what would happen if you ‘trust’ too much to ratings from a single AC Nielsen only whilst there is a question whether their sample respondent are varying and representative enough to many aspect and class in Indonesia citizen/society. Plus, we must admit that J-pop culture and its subsidiaries are too segmented in locals. So, yeah…
And I heard in some blog that this ‘low rating’ is due to many uploads in Youtube channel of the program just right after the show ended. Thus fans may not feel that they NEED to watch it on-air since they think that they may watch it later via YouTube channel. Well, frankly speaking that that’s what happened to me I admit.
Some say, perhaps it would be wiser if the uploader could wait a little bit longer for a couple of days before uploading to YouTube…
That’s it. Game over…..we lost…..
Okay.
This is bad.
But anyway, i think there’s two possibility.
Either my prediction (Overproduction, with all those 31 episodes) or low ratings.
i wonder how it could end like this.. melody’s episode will continue to second part in this week based on the programs right? but then they cancel it -_- how come? let’s hope they will air it!
we must remember that the attractiveness of a TV program that is more dependent on the cast of the show (the members of JKT48). JKT48 management should also reflect on themselves why the cast of this show failed to attract an audience. I think there are three causes:
1. because of a busy schedule that makes the member is not optimal to perform the role in the tv program.
2. because most fan’s expectations that JKT48 to copy and paste from akb48 tv program in Japan (JKT48 is JKT48, and JKT48 will not be akb48).
3. most of the video uploaded on yout*** has removed the ads. The ads should remain plugged in downloads. it is interesting to see the ads starring the members and the audience enjoyed the ads from this tv program.
4. thank you
one tv program being cancelled, but so many fellow fans react like it will apocalypse tomorrow..
The other starting to realized the potential and become greedy. each of them are trying to get a big chunk or even take the whole thing. technical stuff also contribute a little of discontinuation of this program.
When I’m looking forward for Melo’s 2nd part in Okayama, suddenly they cancelled the show.
I don’t know whether I should be sad or angry when hearing the news. Somehow, my heart tilted to putting the blame in Trans7, but no, they are just doing their job.
Great weekends are lost, dull days are coming.
I can’t speculate much about ratings, but in my POV, all of my fan friends always watched on TV in Sundays (me as well). Only when I had another thing that forced me to leave TV then I’ll search for Youtube uploads. So IMO, ratings – perhaps – is not the only thing that contributed to this show’s hiatus. Especially when seeing how fans look forward to it every weekend, and the number of ads in a single air time.
The show’s boring? Not for me. It’s the source for my Sunday morning life besides warm coffee and a good book. Often, even my mother sat down to watch it together. It’s a pretty decent show in it’s own way, even when others think it’s not enough. But hell, this is a bias on my part. People always see what they wanted to see – including me.
Putting that aside, I will always be on the side that supports this show no matter how worse it ended. They will ask for encore? Then I’ll scream encore for them as long as they continued the show; as long as they aired Melody’s 2nd Okayama part; as long as I can see the girls on their own TV show.
i agree with you. I started to believe on what my friends told me before. I think low rate has nothing to do with this matter. Well you see, the story crew (including Mrs Valda :p) had been appear more often at jkt48’s events (handshakes, direct sellings, theaters etc). On the contrary, i could not find any of mission crew (or their cameras) around. Exclusive Access, anyone? Well… i don’t know, i hope this situation, ‘IF’ there were competitions between two tv stations (or two programs: Missions vs Story), will not affect JKT48 members and their beloved fans.
I turn off my alarm on Sunday Morning. *sad
already 10.45… its not aired for real…. noooo….
Hello to everyone,
I’m from Canada, and the show was getting to boring for me. but I really hope that somebody will sub the JKT48 episode 14 of missions to see what Melody said.
I personally know very little about Indonesia but I would like to see episode 14 sub, so if anybody could, please do. And I’ll appreciated a lot.
We will try subbing the episode
good news. 110 percent no jkt48 in trans corp. all of u can stop dreaming forever..bwahahahahttp://cdn.jkt48stuff.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif
I don’t think it is a problem without them no matter how much the percentage you want to imply. There are still a lot of media outlets where we, the fans, can find some information from :D.
So yeah, don’t stop dreaming.
actually the show is really getting boring, but i love to see the girls having fun each episode as angga said.
i want to see a breakthrough in indonesian tv show.
the mission is not really like a mission anyway, i wish i could see a mission which is full of challenges,
maybe they can adopt running man concept
but dont make it fake, i want to see the girls as they really are, and not as the scripts are!
and of course each episode could tell us something about a worth lesson
replacement is not what we actually wish for. if only they could find an ideal formula for the new concept of the missions, giving us surprise each episode, dont worry about the rating, with our pleasures, we’ll stay in front of our tv every sunday morning,
