JKT48 Officials have just updated their YouTube channel with the latest teaser for the JKT48 River MV. The reaction from local fans are…underwhelming. It does make “Indonesians is the hardest to themselves” seems like an understatement.
Some of the comments are comparing the MV/PV teaser with SNH48 River full PV and starting to make claims that SNH48 one looks much better production-wise. Others are criticizing that the audio doesn’t synced (!!!) (you don’t say?), Others criticizing the slow motion and some even goes to the length of saying how Kinal’s JKT roar sounded like a sewer rat tortured to death.
It was hard for me to imagine how a teaser that was supposed to “TEASE” the audiences ended up with so much harsh comments saying how bad it is, as if it’s a full PV/MV.
Hopefully with the low expectation given due to the teaser itself will make a good impact once the full one is released. For now, just wait and see how far the local fans will go to criticize the teaser..or whine…or..bashing.
As for JKT’s management managing the YouTube account, you did good there. Don’t back out and don’t private the video.
As for me personally, I whined about the local fans behavior in this post. And that means, I don’t differs much from the whiners I criticize above. After all…Indonesians is really is the hardest to themselves.

i agree maybe this RIVER TEASER is JOT (JKT48 management) strategy to lower JKT48 fans expectation first before make JKT48 fans suprised with awesome FULL RIVER MV . If it really happens then JOT really know how to play with fans feelings.
Hmmm my complain is only about kinal yell, and about the “senbatsu” why there are 1 person non senbatsu there replace the other girl that should be there…. I think jot playing with “senbatsu” in this one …..
Yap correct, i wonder why the management not wait until she recover. They no need to finished this fast right? Well i will guess that on dance scene at that location, nabila will not appear on MV. But on other scene i strongly believe that Nabila will appear but still for a teaser not put a main star a bit …. Hahaha well that just me btw i’m not Nabila fans ^^
Don’t know about youtube nasty comments (can’t see them in mobile phone), but after watc the above, me personally thinks their budokan performance is still better than the teaser above..
Well, let’s hope that the full mv is really better (at least compare with their previous mv, no offence tho..)
Yeah, agree. Budokan live was amazing. I can’t forget that performance. Many fans in Japan was moved I believe. But the complains about this teaser is just only for the teaser? Or the fans prefer happy, cutie and danceble (chantable) songs, not “RIVER” like a sort of serious encourageable song. I don’t know why.
Unfortunately, I found the teaser did set the expectation terribly low, too low..
Benchmarks might have varied if there was no clear comparison path to the Budokan performance, but sadly, there was.
Here’s hoping that the outcome will not be a total disaster for the girls.

I think the concept is quite good. I don’t know with the full MV yet. But from the teaser, we certainly assess some feature that “likely” will be exist in the full MV. The flaws that make the expectation quite low is the not-quite-good opening shout by Kinal, too-close camera shoot, and lame color-tone grading. About slow motion or anything else it could be for the sake of dramatic feature of the teaser.
The flaws I mentioned above, are all, about the post-production problems. It can be repaired with proper editing. So, I still have positive expectation that, based on feedback JOT got from that post, there will be a significant change of quality for the full MV. Hopefully.

And it seems everything that jkt did, in their eyes, must as good as akb (read a comment on some forum that stated jkt river must have a tank, fighter jet, bazooka, or maybe giant barney)
i think it’s pretty normal for fans to have high expectation…. we can’t blame them “the fans” because RIVER is not an original song by JKT48.. it’s a cover.. so it’s completely normal for the fans to “compare” it with SNH48 and AKB48 …. (it would be different if it an original song because fans doesn’t know anything about it and they cant compare it with any song) and if we see it from the budokan concert, it is true that JKT48 peformance at budokan make the fans expectation higher… i hope JOT really do realize what they’re doing ……. *even my expectation is that it would be nice if i can see some member wearing our TNI army camo and dance infront our Military product such as Anoa or Komodo by PT.Pindad*
I think so. The staff also have social media and fans often give the advice to them. I once had work to response market criticism to my company’s product and had been revised the whole packaging system. So if it’s official post (and it is only teaser, anyway), I think it’s reasonable for the management to read it. They need to know the sentiment and enthusiasm about certain project, anyway, so they can guarantee the success. Whether they will accept or reject the criticism, it’s entirely up to them.
And, I agree, fans as costumers are free to expect. If they don’t like, they don’t buy. It will reduce their profit and can not cover the wider market. I like the concept and most part of the teaser, but if I am being honest, there are many good PV promoted in Dahsyat or another music programs everyday. I just can not say from the teaser (and hypothetically speaking they will make the MV the way they make the teaser), it will be stand out.
So, I just want to emphasize that I actually like the concept. I don’t expect tank, or helicopter, or anything. I just expect the “Wow” moment, which I think quite reasonable since I want JKT48 to reach more for unexplored market and getting more attention from Indonesian people. And then, as you can see, the teaser was just too raw to be judged. If Dentsu behind the making of this MV, we can still expect the chemistry we’d got from Pocari Sweat ads. The MV still have so many potentials to be hits. So, I think it is wise to give the management a proper feedback based on the teaser we’ve gotten.

Impressive post. Sure the big brothers behind JKT48 project have better listen the fans (buyers) reputaion and reflect reputation into their current and also further project. That is the earnet business. Dentsu Media Group Indonesia and MNC ( if, wrong, forgive me) have afordable budget to renovate full ver. or re-shoot of MV. In other words, there is a possiblity to implement some market survyes (qunantitative and qualitative) that Detsu Indonesia has been doing at each product promotion. I belive the fans in Indonesia don’t compare AKB version of RIVER MV with JKT version. The culture is totally differnet. The JKT project team must create the MV that fits Indonesian fans demand, not for Japan and also some overseas.
I personally thinks that the teaser of this MV is already good enough… Well, yeah maybe for some people the Teaser was disappointing, but you know, this could lead to somethin’ BIG… Just wait!! I’m sure we all be amazed when the Full version is released…
I really think both SNH and JKT’s river suffers from the same fate.
Both MVs have good and simple plan. But the execution is bad.
SNH’s bad point is bad camera and that members close up scenes.
While from JKT’s teaser so far is the warehouse seems too small.
i’m still hope RIVER MV will be awesome but if the RIVER MV turn out not as good as fans expected, we can’t blame JKT48 member because the one who responsible is people who made this MV and JOT of course. but if they dance and sing with no power or spirit then that would be JKT member mistake. they make RIVER MV before budokan so we can’t say they performance become worse and doesn’t matter what fans say now it won’t change anything because they already finish make the RIVER MV. i doubt they will change the RIVER MV again. maybe JOT will consider idea/advise from fans for next JKT48 MV. i think we still can hope but don’t expect too much.

the toning in the mv teaser is so indonesian, it’s just like the toning effect in Indonesian movies with dark concept, like The Raid. (and i think river is matched to be the raid soundtrack )
so i think JOT had alr made a good job and able to match the condition to Indonesian entertainment and video standards
kinal’s “JKT” i think it’s the effect of slow motion so no problem with it (the problem is, it should not be slow motioned :p )
now, I’m going to miss Frieska cold gaze just like the one when she performs River in Budokan Concert
