Haruka Interview on Her Transfer
Video link in case the embedded video doesn’t shows up
Well,I have been in AKB48 for 6 years and part of “Watari-roka-hashiritai”, but I have never joined Senbatsu team for a recording of any AKB48’s CD.
So,since last year, I’ve been thinking that if things go on the way, “What is to become of me?” The more I think about it,the less it makes sense…I mean I was insecure in my role on AKB48…
When I heard an announcement that Milky and Jurina were asked to work in two teams concurrently, I suddenly realized “Huh, transfer to other team? hey, there is also that way of thinking about something or there is also that kind of concept!”
The reason why I decided to come to Jakarta, a city so far away, I thought that if I chose any other team in Japan, it’s all the same in the end, you know, the languages is familiar…so,there’s nothing new under the sun. I wanted to be all alone in a strange land and challenge something new there. Then, I asked Akimoto-sensei’s advice and he said “OK”
My dream for the future is to become an actress, and a stage-actress. I am often asked my fans “Did you give up your dream?”, and at those times I tell them, “No! I believe this is my first step to realize my dream.” I want to learn a lot and get to be in a movie or a TV drama in both countries, Indonesia and Japan. It will give me a better chance of getting jobs.
I have something to say to my fans, I wanna be Asia’s number one actress! This is the first step in making my dreams come true! I wanna learn English.. and I wanna make a career in Hollywood in the future. Not a negative attitude at all.
At first,I was only thinking of my own performance, “I wanna dance and sing together with JKT girls as soon as possible!” But, I notice while I have been with them the more I knew them, the more I realized that there are differences not only the language but also in their ways of thinking based on differences in culture. I was a bit confused by the “culture gap” unexpectedly. I underestimated my first overseas experience, language barrier is just a small part of life overseas.
Though JKT48 belongs to AKB family; compared with SKE,HKT or NMB, our JKT girls have small opportunities to touch upon the activities of AKB48 members. Therefore, JKT48 has a lot of local rules in the team. Whenever I gave them an advice to improve it, they always reply blandly “Really? I don’t know..” It was very tough for me to teach them about it at first.
Of course, I respect and support individual initiatives of JKT48, but sometimes surely I need to teach my own experience to them. I believe that those experiences will be very important and useful for JKT48 members. That’s my job, but I couldn’t succeed in the beginning frankly. Yes, I also understand that it is still only about a year since JKT48 debuted.
While I was in AKB48, I was not a leader-type person at all, so I found myself becoming a problem solver and teacher which were very stressful at first. I confess that I was actually a poor student not a good teacher in AKB48, hehe..now isn’t the time to say that. Still, everything is new to me and it is a great experience. I am doing my best here.
Yeah, Akicha is a teacher who teaches well, so I am relying on her leadership. She teaches choreography and performance to JKT members, and I support them from below as a pillar.
So far, I have never experienced language barriers. I always try to communicate with members by combining all words I know. They help me a lot, sometimes they understand even Japanese!
On the stage, all fans support me! They always try to understand my MC in Bahasa Indonesia, so I am very happy! great fans, indeed! Now I feel that JKT48 theater is my “home stadium,” they chant “MIX” and member’s names very loudly, It’s really fantastic, you know!
Basically, I stay in Jakarta, and go back to Japan only for a concert like “Kouhaku” or “handshake event”. Soon I will go back to Jakarta on New Year’s Day. I don’t feel in the least lonely over there, because all members treat me extremely well and the Moms of some member says “Call me Mom, OK!?” So, I don’t feel lonely, not at all.
Now I am really happy with JKT48 girls, I want to stay with them in Indonesia forever! They are all my little sisters! well, some are big sisters for me hehe.. everybody all cheerful and lively!
When I was in AKB48, I was surrounded by older members, so I was the only noisy girl in a quiet dressing room. But, JKT48 girls are all so noisy! I love such atmosphere very much. But, it’s a little strange, JKT girls are a bit shy on the stage, so I want to show such cheerful atmosphere to fans at the theater.
Thank you very much!
Japanese to English Translation by Tokyo Pop
ooh Haruka is tired by fierce competition in AKB? then JKT is a save haven for her.
HARUKA!!!!!!!
I love you!!!!!!
That was worth reading. Thanks to Tokyo Pop for the translation. I always find Haruka’s views more enlightening than Akicha’s.
Thank you!
please stop compare them. each one of them have their own uniqueness. Akicha and Haruka make JKT48 better with their own way. we should respect them because they should leave many things in japan just to become JKT48 member. i hope JKT48 fans can support akicha and haruka equaly because now they are part of the JKT48.
I made no comparison of their abilities as performers. It is merely an observation that Haruka’s statements seem more direct and to the point rather than Akicha’s, which appear to take a roundabout approach before arriving at a conclusion. As you mentioned, each method is unique to the person.
when does this taken?
recently?
At the end of last year,I guess.
Ah..
Now that make sense..
Because the part when she said JKT girls are shy on stage are extremely irrelevant now ( it even can be consider shameless , especially girls like jeje or nabilah )
You are not supposed to talk like that, who knows what they can do to you. especially Jeje don’t ever mess with that girl or you will end up in the hospital.
Milky and Gena? you mean Jurina?
Ah thanks for the notification. Gonna ask Tokyo Pop to make sure .
Frankly,I’m not sure about “Gena”, I don’t know much about a nickname.
Harugon says “Gena” not “Jurina” I think…but no “Gena” nickname on Google…
What do you think,guys?
OK,I repeated the tube again now, you are right, It’s Jurina!
Correct the article please,Angga!
Corrected . Thanks Ha Jin Young and Tokyo Pop
Thanks for the translation. It’s great to understand what the members really feel.
Haruka was really smiling
Thank you Angga,
The reason why I couldn’t catch the nickname, she speaks in simpery (over-cute?)voice,like a high school girl.
Hey guys,I’m a Silent Reader in this website.
When I’m reading your translation, especially about Haruka statement make my tears fall, she is awesome
I’m happy because little by little,JKT get so many fans not only in Indonesia, but more popular in other country
Yes,she is really awesome.
can you count how many times haruka say “SUGOI”
Yeah, her “Sugoi” means about that “very” or “really”something, not “Amazing”or”Awesome”.
She uses “Sugoi” lightly.
she wants to stay here forever..
that sentence even made me shed my tears of pride (ah, i really did…)
Please someone make a TV show like JKT48 school, so we can watch Haruka act
eto~
there is JKT Mission coming soon on trans 7. it’s fix but still ‘coming soon’
Oh wow it’s so touching to read this :”
Knowing what’s haruka feel makes me amazed (or proud?) of her
