I have come to love JKT48 and the girls a lot over the past year. Originally, I was pretty uninterested because I feel that AkiP had kinda stretched beyond his means by branching out into other countries, but I think that Indonesia was a great choice. It seems that he has found a country with a great base for fans and for finding really wonderful girls.
As someone who knows next to nothing about the country, it’s people, or it’s language it was quite a shock at first to hear something so different from the Japanese I hear spoken everyday. At first, the language felt so harsh. All of the hard sounds and rolling was something I was not used to, but over time, I have really come to enjoy it. It’s so distinctly different to me and has really become something I am fine with hearing anytime!
Then with JKT being a new fresh group, they have such a great outreach to their fans. All of the videos that get posted to the official youtube channel makes it easy to get to know these girls and see their activities from anywhere in the world. Events that JKT do are unlike any other 48 group in that they have direct interaction with their fan base and I think that is one of the greatest things and will be forever jealous of all of you who get to experience that in person. I wish we could get more video footage of them performing though. Hoping for a DVD sometime in the near future.
Could he have picked a more-perfect first generation? I really don’t think so. They are each so wonderful and unique and you can tell that these girls really have that care and compassion for each other. For even the ones that aren’t already related, they really feel like family. Twitter communications between them seem like they get along great and then G+ updates are really wonderful too. Learning about the girls has been really great too. There’s such diversity between them as well. You have different religions interacting here as well that you really don’t have in the other 48 groups. Having a number of them who know other languages is really amazing too. Seeing Rena post updates in three languages is really something! I have my favorites in Shania, Sendy, Diasta, Ve, Jeje, Dhike, Ghaida…. OKAY ALL OF THEM. I am so proud of Captain Kinal as well and know that she is a great choice to lead Team J.
Initially I was pretty bothered with Harugon and Akicha going to JKT. I thought they would come in and steal all the spotlight from these girls, even if it was unintentional. They had their initial push to get their names out there, but as a whole, it seems like they are taking a nice spot behind the main girls. I am happy to see them really enjoying their time in Indonesia, and most impressed with Haruka. That girl has really shown something special with her interest in learning the language and really trying to be the best she can be.
A lot of us joke that second generation feels like a bunch of us overseas fans going wild. These girls are just crazy and it seems like they are really going to make the most of it. I cannot wait to see a lot of these girls in action and hope that they really cater to these unique personalities. So far, I have taken a liking to Rona the most, but also Olive, Cindy, and that crazy Novita!
As a whole, I think this group and these girls are really quite special. I have really gained a special place for these girls separate from the other 48 family, because they feel so much more local/accessible. They really care about their fans and their group as a whole and that really means a lot.

Dear friends,
and thanks Angga for creating the thread. It’s great to have overseas fans communicating and talking about JKT48 and I fully support this effort. I don’t really know what kind of content are you looking for in the article, but I just thought of sharing my experience of being an overseas fans and the growth about the girls and fan community.
Fans in Singapore are lucky to have had the 48 groups visit here for a series of lives, and that was how my group of friends and I got to know JKT48 too. They were really “unknown” when they first arrived. At the airport, instead of the tens of fans or hundreds who would welcome AKB, SKE, SDN or NMB; when JKT arrived, there was only the 6 of us at the airport and even the girls were surprised to have an audience. Yet, they gave a good impression during their meet and greet cafe session even though they were not the usual Japanese idols we have come to know. The whole combination of Rena, Vey, Achan, Sonya and Stella spoke in English, Indonesian, Japanese and even Chinese! Phew what an impact!
It was enough to hook a couple of my friends in. When they started their first theater event, we knew we had to support them. A couple of us made the trip and have not looked back in regret. They were cute girls. They sang familiar songs. Even though none of us understood, we had fun. We felt the girls were genuine. They laughed. Sonya cried during her birthday show and when they saying Boku no Sakura, and we cried together with them at the end of the first theater weekend. And I remember going back to our friend’s home to stayover for the night and we were blasting the B3 setlist all night long without stopping. We were hooked!
All of us made new Twitter accounts to tweet to the girls when we came back. It was a new concept, unlike that in Japan. JKT48 were imminently the “Idols you can tweet.” They must have received thousands of tweets a day, but they RT, and they replied, and they posted photos. Imagine having a 48 idol tweet you back! I seriously believe this is one of the “secrets” to them having gained popularity so quickly.
The fans we’ve met have always been great. I didn’t think there was such a division back then. Fans were fans. There wasn’t any labelling of “zombies” and when we learnt something new, we learnt something new. The wotagei craze was on. Groups of fans were appearing on TV doing wotagei to the girls performances. There had been a lot of enthusiasm and learning. And we made new friends just like that (my friend is a wotaroid member). Pockets of fans were flying and traveling all over when the Pasaraya theaters were going on to meet the girls. From Jogjakarta and the furthest islands.
I felt things changed after the introduction of the “zombie” term. Nowadays, anybody who is anybody is deeply afraid of being called a zombie. Fan sections begin to segregate. People who call themselves a wota begin to be judged upon. People who knows a little bit more is then tested on 48 history and info (as if anyone knows everything). Fans who know anything more will then be called a skyman. For sure, I do not respect such unhealthy division among fans. But, maybe this is how things evolve. There had always been problematic fans. Even from the pasaraya times, fans were holding up the lift to the 7th floor when the doors open by pressing them at every level. I don’t know how to deal with them either. For the sake of the fans, and the girls though, I do hope differences can be laid aside, and a united fan front can be pulled together for the times we need it. Like for a birthday show, or an oshimen group project, or the like.
The girls and the management and the operations team grew. Stella was always a stickler for the mistakes done by the operations team during the Pasaraya theaters. She was the one who was visibly upset the most, and rightly so when the crew failed the girls, the audience and the staff at the times they overlayed the wrong audio during performances. The girls were panicking, and there was serious embarrassment for everyone. I am quite sure the girls cried over it backstage when these mistakes happened, not once, not twice but maybe three to four times over the different theater weekends; ruining an otherwise perfect show. JOT and the staff wasn’t perfect. Even I get irritated with them at times. Especially when Ochi was not granted her final graduation show. Or when girls resign simply by just Tweeting about it. But I’ve always felt that JOT have been genuinely moving in the right direction. Having been to the theater so many times, we kinda get to know their faces. And they are everyday people, you know. They’re certainly not the monster most people make them out to be. Like the girls, they do learn a long the way and maybe this is their salvation. And I do hope upper management treats them well too.
Probably the biggest drive behind JKT48’s success is the combination of the hardwork done off- the scenes by the staff and those that are visibly done by the members. JKT48 had their first ever full concert 7-8 months just after their debut, and not only that, it was televised to the whole of Indonesia through RCTI. How much bigger could they have gotten? It was only their first year! The girls were doing their best and falling sick. Stella, Shanju, Beby have all fallen victim to the hospital bed. Even the 2nd generation was not spared the, “unable to perform in the show today” sickness that had plagued the first generation. I have also heard about the much, unappreciated pay compensation that the first gen had to endure through during their first year. Not only that, girls had to go back to Bandung in the middle of the night. These are young, teenage girls, just trying to get home after a day’s work. Imagine all the trials they have to go through. Cindy was always returning home at 3, 4 and even 5am in the morning. All in all, it was a risky and dangerous job. It brought benefits, but it wasn’t the most sensible either.
I don’t know how it is like now. I hope it is a better working situation now, since the first gen and JOT is in their second year and that the second gen are thoroughly trying their best too. I honestly feel the first gen is in a better situation though. They just feel more relaxed. I do believe though, that they are undergoing a change. The first gen don’t tweet as often, or at least, relative to that of Gen 2. A friend just told me that Stella hasn’t tweeted in 1 full month! (Before yesterday, that is). Diasta hasn’t appeared in the theater for over a month either. And there was a period last year when I really worried because Delima had also disappeared off the radar for over 2-3 weeks. JOT and management hasn’t done a fully transparent job explaining what is happening to the fans, or the public. I get the impression they’d much rather choose to sweep everything under the carpet.
I don’t agree with it either. Looking back at last year, there had been a strong push by senior 48 fans to call for JOT to address Melody’s scandal issues, and JOT did just that. But, there wasn’t such of a push recently, and we all wonder what’s going on. Compare that to the quick work by Togasaki-san, in managing AKB affairs, and you can’t help but feel discouraged that perhaps nobody in the upper management really cares about the fans in Indonesia. Perhaps it’s just business there?
Well, I do think this has been a very long opinion. I don’t think anybody cares either, but I hope it can present to you some material for your article Here’s a video I made a few months back about JKT’s growth.
and another pic of all my theater trips. It’s not the most (there have been others at the 60 shows and above mark), but I would like to present it as a testament to being a witness to JKT48’s growth. Cheers all

I’ll be happy to share my views.
I haven’t considered myself as a fan of JKT48 but more of a curious follower. As a matter of fact, I’m still skeptical of the AKB48 model and whether it can truly succeed in Indonesia. Despite the potential for cultural exchange between Japan and Indonesia, the socioeconomic conditions of both countries are very different from each other.
AKB48’s fan base in Japan is quite large and includes middle class families, children, and the elderly. On the other hand, JKT48’s fanbase in Indonesia are still largely teenagers and young adults under the age of 30. (See this article in HALO! Jepang, which is co-published with the Japanese-language The Daily Jakarta Shimbun.)
By having a larger fan base, AKB48 can tap into a population with varying levels of purchasing power. JKT48 does not have this reach, and lack of interest from the older population means the group cannot tap into the population segment with higher income that usually fuels sustainable growth for a business.
In my perspective, Yasushi Akimoto will have to choose one of two paths to make JKT48 successful. The first is to try to expand the current fan base to include higher income middle class families. The second is to keep investing on the current young generation in the hope that they remain interested throughout the years and become an economically viable customer base in the future.
The first option allows for more rapid growth of popularity at the risk of losing some of the group’s original appeal as “idols you can meet every day”. AKB48 currently has this problem because the demand for AKB48 Theater tickets has snowballed over the years, and oftentimes it becomes harder to meet the members one-to-one.
The second option will take significant time investment but allows current fans to develop a sense that they are growing up along with the group. As members of JKT48 develop their talents, the fans are also developing their lives and careers, thus building a greater bond between the two sides.
Only time will tell what strategy Akimoto has in mind, and I’m sure he has more ideas up his sleeves than we will ever know.

JKT48? I don’t give a xxxxx about them. Looking at your thread on ebi makes me wanna puke.
Why? Let me tell you :
1. They are not xxxxx Japanese ffs!
2. They butchered Gomen ne Summer. Yikes!
3. They translate Japanese into some voodoo cult language. Sounds liek Spanish mixed up with some martian language.
4. Black dirty thigh, black dirty thigh, do I need to say more?
5. The majority of Japanese hates them, so why should I like them?
6. The thought of idol wearing burqa makes me wanna **** my cat instead
7. And mostly, Indonesia? lol, under developed country wants to make their own version of AKB48 wannabe. Where do you want them to dance? the jungle? So this is my advice to you : Tell those stupid people behind JKT48 to stop! Akicha and Gon doesn’t deserved to be in that stupid deserted place!
AKB48 is like my bible. They are great dancers, cool, sexy, perfect and JKT48 is anything but!

Indonesians Opinions
almightyrin from Jakarta, Indonesia
I’ve been following JKT since they’re very first TV performance, yep that MTV Ampuh Heavy Rotation’s performance, at the beginning I was like ‘ew’ with this group, I mean lol I’m a bit shocked with this 48group happening from my own country, I’m originally an AKB fans since early 2010, no one would expect Akip to make 48 international group in Indonesia. Just if, Akip make a Singapore48 or Taipei48 or Shanghai48 (and it happens lol) I kind of expected about it. But he choose to make a new group in Indonesia that made me ‘meh’, I don’t think our culture can suit this idol concept, since we don’t have any idol group before and I’m worry for JKT, and their future after member leaves the group. Because I want my fav girls still exist in entertainment industry after she leaves JKT lol
ok, lets back to my first statement, I’ve been following them from their first debut, and their very first handshake. Ayana, Veranda and Kinal really got my attention at that time. They’re all look good. By the time at the end of 2011, JKT very first scandal leaked, Melody’s scandal about her boyfriend while at the same time she got center position in New Ship PV. JOT did nothing about this news, they’re not even talked about this, and I really hate it. In February I watched the AKBxJKT48 concert in Jakarta, JKT only performed 1 song lol if we only count kimisuki. and it sucked, tbh lol. This makes me more worried about them, since JKT is a new 48group, while the AKB fans always comparing them to the sister group. But, JKT started to kick their ass into all of the music show that existed, and it works. they’re keep getting better and better until now, its nice to see them having their own theater.
I think JOT have been changed a lot since their debut, and that’s good. The girls are also keep getting better, with all the new gens which is so special to me. Its new to see for me, or maybe for Indonesian? lol, an idol celebrating Ramadhan, Eid, Lunar and Xmas together. With all of the differences, JKT really make it they’re a big one family. They’re all unique, and wonderful. Mostly from the 2nd gen all girls look nice. So happy to know that most of them already know about Japan, esp Novinta and Olivia girl, god my top 2 2nd gen ever. And tbh I’ve only watched their theater ONCE. And its in Nyi Ageng Serang, JKT non permanent theater around May/ June. Shania really made me wow with her performance and topped my JKT ranking LOL
and for Gon and Akicha got transferred to JKT, I think its a brilliant idea lol Akip try to make a new promotion for AKB. And it can make 2 girls from JKT, for sure, get a spot in Senbatsu Election lol. Just like B said above, I’m a bit worried if Gon and Akich stole the center spots. But its not happening, both taking a nice spot behind the front girl. And its so nice to see them interacting everyday, with the difference language’s problem lol but Gon and Stella make it feels like they’re really a good friend, Gon is so easily adapted with JKT girls.
I’m not a JKT48 fans. I do have my fav girls, but I aint even try to make them into my oshi list. They’re just my favorite, they can make me proud somehow with their existences. I think JKT is really a special group, with all difference between Japan and Indonesia. And they can introduce Japan and International fans about Indonesia.
The most important part about them is, its so easy to interact with them. Having a twitter account for every members is really a great idea to promote the girls. Back to the era before the JOT against to reply fans mention, wasn’t it nice to talk to your oshi even its only from Twitter? LOL I hope JOT can handle JKT more wisely, for the ticketing, because I always see fans tweet about their bad ticketing process, and for midnight performance, even though we don’t have any rules about it but I just don’t want to see the underage girl work out over 10 pm, mini example is Nabilah, she’s only 13 years old. And also can we get a day with only fan girl in theater?
Hoping for their CD debut with an original song
Kuramocchi from Indonesia
I made this account just for the sake of replying to this post lol.
Anyway, I have just recently discovered my love for JKT48, but I have been following them ever since their debut. I used to think that they’re not on par with their sister groups and stuff. Then I realized how judgmental me and most people are. I’m not saying all, I’m just saying most people.
The phrase ”growing with the fans” , what meaning does it have now? Because all I see is that people compare JKT48 to AKB48 or other sister groups. Come on, 6 years of experience compared to one year of experience?
Nowadays people want everything to be done so perfectly, especially by the sister groups. Look at AKB48. They weren’t so skillful. They didn’t have the best vocals nor dancing. Perhaps JKT might have it quite easy, I mean, instant fanbase (although there are some sentiments too). But AKB48 had to work their way out. But the members of JKT48 have their own individual talent. Some are excellent in singing, some are good in dancing, and some are great in modelling. I honestly think that this whole time they are just doing it the wrong way. And I don’t know what it is.
JKT48 is unique. You don’t get the whole ‘kawaii’ feeling in them like you do with Japanese and Shanghai girls. They tend to go for the more mature theme. I guess this is one of the reasons why people can’t really get used to them. JKT48 has their own uniqueness that other sister groups don’t have. They are so different.
With JKT48, I really do experience what they call as “growing with the idols”. They are getting so much better now and I am SO proud of them. I have also taken a liking on Shania and Delima.
Now I understand why some people say JKT48 is like AKB48’s old days.
When the competition starts, I hope this wonderful bond of theirs won’t break.

JKT48, hmm
i don’t know much about JKT48
but, in my opinion JKT48 is a big idol group in one of Indonesia city, in that city many people like that local idol.
and i think in piece of many people is worst about manner. When JKT48 perform they always make bad maneuvers like wotagei, through line stages. But some people care about the rules and manners when they attend the show.and then, about the system of JKT48 Operation Team (JOT).
They have many mistakes like, make (ED: Announced?) event on 1 week before event days, when member of JKT48 grad (some members), JKT48 officials always late to make a statement on twitter.thats all what i think about JKT48, id my opinion has mistakes please correct me.
thanks for this thread, i hope JKT48 will be better than now.
Sergio Mario from Australia
Greetings,
Sergio Mario, Indonesian living in Australia. As an overseas fan of JKT48, first I want to say that I’m very proud of being a JKT48 fans who have been following their existence ever since their debut and very pleased to see that the girls have managed to overcome their struggles in becoming idols that many Indonesians guys, most if not all, can adore, admire and even be crazy about (I mean cute, pretty and talented girls,, C’mon!).
As a guy who have known and of course ‘was’ a fan of AKB48 before even JKT48 was made, YES , just like the other fans, the news (or many fans called it a ‘rumour’ at the time) that went around the fandom, that Jakarta were to be the first city outside of Japan with AKB48’s sister group made there, were indeed quiet surprising and even shocking for me to hear.
Was a fan of AKB48 since late 2010, one year that I spent my time having so much fun with this Japanese idol group franchise called ’48 family’ and its fandom, then suddenly, without me even expecting, the same exact thing with the same concept also, were going to be made in the country where I was born (tho it’d have been even happier for me if it was BDG48 :P) I mean, who wouldn’t be shocked of it. The Japanese group that you so adore, now wouldn’t be much of a difference with the one you would find in your country :O
Now that feeling of happiness, overwhelming and exciting mixed with shocked and surprised mingled becoming something that I was worrying so much… “What if this project is going to fail,, what will happen to the girls,, what will happen to Indonesian AKB48 fans reputation”. And there I thought “That’s right, what these group needs is only one thing. its not sth great or superb. That only one thing is our ‘biggest supports from us fans’”. From there eventually I’m kind of quitting AKB48 and start supporting JKT48 only instead with all my heart and giving my biggest supports to them. Now something started bothering me a little. How could I interact with the girls directly and expressing my supports and loves to them, or at least they knew I’m exist. I knew fan letter is one of the thing but, how should I knew if they had received them or not.
Then this thing called the Twitter was then utilized. Absolutely nothing could make me any happier than knowing that I could finally be interacting with them. At that time members are still allowed to RT and replying stuffs from fans. Tweeted stuffs to them like I know no tomorrow, hundreds a day, thinking every seconds about pretty much everything I could possibly say to them, just for the sake of a reply at least. Cindy Gulla, Diasta and some couple others too I remember twitted me back. Those days :’) . That was the greatest move from JKT48 in promoting the girls I would say,,, But, it only last until they’re eventually changed. I knew the reasons why they stopped all these, but I don’t understand why. Stupid, just stupid! But, I still keep tweeting stuffs to them anyway, I knew they read them, and I’m happy enough. The girls. What an utter beauties they are. All of them are just beautiful, cute, and absolutely down to earth. Cindy’s cuteness, Veranda’s hurricane beauty, that Ghaida’s coquettish behaviour, Mova’s sexy lips(OMFG, SEXY) and also all the others’ too, I love them all.
But there is this one girl who couldn’t get me over this infatuation feeling that had me all the time… Melody… Gosh, I looove her smile, she’s just like an angel. I’m a guy who appreciated beauty so much, and smile is #1 for me, and this girl,, I can tell you she is the true definition of beauty. So if someone asks me what does oshihen mean, I don’t understand what does that word even mean,, never stated in my dictionary, that’s for sureWaiting, waiting, and waiting, after probably about one year, I could finally see the girls in real life. On late Nov 2012, I went to Jakarta for holiday, I attend their theater performances “Pajama Drive”. I’m finally convinced. I’m convinced of how great this fandom is. Dedicated girls, Supportive fans. The fans who came to the theatre was not just Indonesians, but I also saw Japanese people and even two white guys, prob European not sure (and if you think I’m lying, I swear I am not). This proof that our JKT48 really have a very large fanbase considering they are only just in their first year. I think even some notable artists came to the theater too,, not as a guest tho, they really came only to watch the girls.
The girls performance on the theater was great. Songs that are never performed at the television, their dance, live singing and everything is just way better than what you see on the screen all this time. I don’t know why JKT48 have never performed their theter setlist unit on the tv, but they should. Their great performances in each unit would absolutely attract and gather new fans to come to their theater. Maybe the JOT should really think of doing this sometimes.
So you guys who lived overseas, I recommend you to visit JKT48 theater for sure, I promise you, you will love it.My only comment on JKT48 about the stuffs they are doing is that the group need more media exposure for them to get more mainstream audiences, especially from overseas. All this time what they’re doing is pretty much theatres and events. Although it’s a perfect way for the girls to interact with fans, again we as the overseas and FAR fans need sth more than just once-a-month tv performance and twitter interaction. Something like JKT48 School was the kind of thing I am expecting right now. Too bad they have no such show anymore. That was one hella funny show tbh. I miss that show :((
To conclude this, some things still need to be improved for JKT48 as a whole, but they are not such a big deal. I would say I’m satisfied with pretty much everything of what they have done and are doing, for the fans, and for themselves also. I see them have changed and grown a lot since their first debut and I’m really happy for them.
And always remember these girls are not perfect, so just accept them for who they are.

i remember that holy ugliness captain once wrote in her Google+ “Dream Came True” while posting Tokyo Dome picture.
My reaction : LOL! Dream my ***. If it is not for AKB48, JKT48 will never ever be able to go there with their low quality “case”. i’m proud to write on my twitter profile : NOT JKT48 FANS!
Conclusion
There are love, there are curiosities, there are hates, there are memories, there are prejudices, there are critics, there are praises, there are encouragements, there are disparages. A lot of feelings for JKT48 mixed into this one long post as a combined efforts from users in Everyday48 and also guests that sending their opinions via the contact form.
The main point of this article is to gathered various opinions, be it bad or good. Fans should accept that some people might have different views about JKT48. Local fans should also accept that not every single AKB48 fans in this world love JKT48, so don’t get over confidence and stated that JKT48 is very well known overseas (Yes, I’ve read it more than a dozen time). Daily unique visitors for this website composed of Japanese and Indonesians as the big two. While US came third.
But nonetheless, that small international community like B, WasshoiJ, Richardson Kilis, Serg and those who haven’t got the time to poured their opinions (or doesn’t know about the opinions gathering) like Indigo, loveandcoffee, Sumirin, Olivia, Alachad, Ian, Kurisu, SunRed, Tokyo Pop, Japarta, JKT48USA, Yankeesophyd and a lot lot of other people that I can’t mentioned one by one, they all have contributed A LOT in spreading the love for JKT48 with their own ways. Thank you guys for everything.
It is now our task, local fans, to support them in spreading the love by behaving well through your actions and writings, giving a helping hand or two when they are in need. Show the people, that we know how to say thanks.
Thank you very much for all who have poured their opinions for the sake of this article. I hope this article could helped the local fans to know a little bit what does international community thinks of the group albeit with a very small sample case.
A very special thanks to Everyday48 and Kata for making this opinions gathering came true.

Man! I thought we all think that those world class haters should give some respects for JKT48. Why’d they do that? (Did AKB48 ever mock JKT48? Hell no! They always say to support them!)
It is all about taste
the bald dude says; “the reason haters talk on our back, is because they can never walk in fornt of us..” whenever there is a fans, there always a haters..
so, who cares with haters
honestly, me not a fans of AKB
JKT, like one of the dude say up there, is really different..
they still can maintain the kawaii, cute or whatever the terms is, but still holding to the culture of our country.. and yes, me agree very well about the diversity, it wont be found anywhere else.
the reason me and me wife paying attention to JKT girls are simple; their struggle and effort is interesting to watch
if you were a barista, or maybe a dangdut party singer, joining a team such as JKT can probably “a key to a better future”, unless those haters have such rough life as they do; what do they know about dream? what rights do they have to talk about dreams?
and for the racist f*#k who says black thigh and proudly announce that AKB is thee bible; Beyonce Knowles, Rihanna and Alicia Keys is BLACK, SEXY, and WON GRAMMY!! if you racist f*#k says they are ugly, YOU’RE A F*#KIN GAY!!
MM from Malaysia.
I’m probably late in doing this, but JKT48 is slowly grabbing my attention. I first took notice of the group when I saw Melody in New Ship PV then I decided to check out the group. JKT48 School really help me in recognizing the members. Being from Malaysia, language was not a problem for me, there’s just a little difference but I understood what they were saying 85% of the time.
Haruka & Akicha’s transfer is really brilliant especially Haruka who has amazed me with her fluency in Indonesian language. Also, seeing them interact with other members like Stella, Nabilah etc makes me happy. I’ve applied for my OFC card and hopefully will be going to Jakarta in September to watch them live.
Hopefully, in the future, there will be a more proper place for me to buy their album (online with Paypal payment option perhaps?). I tried buying their Official book online and some people are trying to sell it for $50-$80, it’s ridiculous. I finally got their Official book when my sister went to Jakarta for business. Maybe in March when they sell the album in retail stores, they would be selling it to international fans as well.
In short, the girls are awesome, they are improving everyday, and with the new ticketing system JOT is improving as well. It’s only the first year and I know they will be better and maybe in 5-6 years they will be big in Indonesia, hopefully as big as AKB in Japan.
Thanks for sharing your views!
As an international fan and someone that’s like AKB48 for many many years i’m really embarrassed by the greasy weeaboo that said they hate JKT for being from Indonesia. They think their country is so much better but they really aren’t proving anything with their ignorance.
Their AKB oshi would want to spit on them for saying such disgusting things and I hope it happens someday xoxo
lol I dunno what should I say.. but you know JKT48 give me something really different feeling, these girls are human, I mean they re really human, they say what they want, not do such an overdone cutesy crap, even they can act not pretty …. they are “our girl nex door”, not only just some holly -Goddesses -kawaii that everybody likes
I agree with this statement :
‘Local fans should also accept that not every single AKB48 fans in this world love JKT48, so don’t get over confidence and stated that JKT48 is very well known overseas (Yes, I’ve read it more than a dozen time)’
sometime local fans iritate me. some of my friends even said “I don’t hate JKT48, I just hate some of their fans”
(my friends are johnny’s fan and mature woman, they know about AKB because SMAP x SMAP and love AKB song
they even go to AKB x JKT concert at Jakarta, but they refuse to go JKT Theatre)
about haters,
ooo i love haters hahaha
because sometimes they know about the girls more than me (fans) :p
for me it’s okay to being a haters

ah, I didn’t know such thread existed.
well, here we go.
Sunred, Australian, –long time AKB fan, applied for JKT theatre tickets countless times–.
JKT48 tickles something inherently dormant within me, the quest for purpose.
Coming as an underdog amongst other sister groups, they have proven that motivation and hard work can overcome any obstacles.
They are definitely not anywhere near the finish line, but has also gone very far from the starting position.
I speak rudimentary Bahasa Indonesia and can relate very well to JKT’s originating culture set.
I have spent many years working in various south east asian countries, and I have to say that Indonesia is one of the most memorable ones.
The acculturation process is very unique, put it that way.
That being said, JKT represents the unique demography of Indonesia, and certainly the variety they bring has endless potential.
These girls shine, and on many occasions, made me genuinely smile.
For me, JKT is also a symbol of effort, young girls seeking their purpose amidst the gigantic peer pressure.
Think the size of the shoes that they have to fill in, it’s AKB’s universe after all.
One smile is what I need to appreciate this group of beautiful girls.
Of course I love Haruka, but Melody, Shania, Jessica(s), Rezky, and the others are blooming so fast they’re blinding!
Selamat Berjuan JKT48!

I pity the person who uses “black dirty thigh” as a benchmark, I really do.
You deserve nothing but pity.
Thank you SunRed for your thought! That was beautiful!

Totoro-san, Eigo dekiru?

Hi, I’m Almira, an Indonesian fan currently living in amsterdam.
I’m that kind of fan who actually like JKT first and eventually came to love AKB as well. I have heard about AKB a long time ago and immediately assumed that its a sleazy girl band without making much thought. I’ve came into that conclusion after I accidentally watched ponytail to shushu PV. But after countless episodes of AKB’s variety shows and performances, I realized that AKB is more than that.
I’m really tired of seeing celebrities with their long skinny legs and is perfect in everything. I found JKT as a breath of fresh air, a public figure that looks and act like your classmates or friends. Their direct interaction with fans are also brilliant, it gives you a sense of family as a fan. I also love how they can shine, how they get prettier each day and it really cheers me up. And because of g+ blogs, twitter and frequent theater performances FRs, their personalities are very apparent and it felt like I’ve known them personally. Not to mention that there is no dull day as a fan of JKT, because there is always something new that happens everyday!
Several visits to JKT’s theater would be my top priority once I’m back to Indonesia.
*For that anon dissinng about indonesian’s thigh, lots of europeans that i know of thought Indonesian’s skin shade are extremely attractive
Thanks for the input Almira!
I don’t know if any Indonesian fan opinion in this international opinions gathering is of any great relevance, but I can’t hold myself pouring all my thoughts, so, here goes:
As a person who have never been a fan of something, it is surprising how JKT48 caught my attention. This is my first fandom in life (sad to know it myself, really), and I don’t understand why I liked them at the first place. Before, I don’t usually buy in to any musicians because I’m just not interested in them. Even if there are some that bought me in, it is limited to only loving their songs, not as far as becoming their fanatic. But then, JKT48 appeared.
Although I knew AKB48 long before JKT48, I don’t start as an AKB fan. Honestly speaking, AKB didn’t put much interest in me at that time. I consider it as the same with other girl group that comes with the Hallyu wave. The same thing goes with JKT when seeing them at the first note, as I blatantly stated that they’re simply another girl group. However, everything changed when I see the the official video about their first debut performance. They were literally shining brightly. From there on, I started to follow them, and later loved their every performance.
As my knowledge on JKT48 grew, I started to look more into AKB48. Majisuka Gakuen series, AKBingo!, and Shuukan AKB are the shows that are responsible for my current liking towards AKB48, despite the irony that I didn’t give a damn about them before. Also, SKE now caught my attention because of Jurina, and while all of it seems to be caused by JKT, I honestly loved AKB & SKE because of their own ways.
To put it simple, JKT48 really are unusual comparing to other artists and musicians. They are the ones bringing me into the 48 fandom, and I definitely won’t let this thing went away. Seeing them grew from day to day is also an amazing experience, which is why I’m curious about how they are turning out in the future.
Thanks a lot mate for the opinion
People are free to have different thoughts about JKT48. Whether it’s love poets or hate speech. We can’t forced our way of thinking to other. And I should declare it, JKT48 is still not really famous to others. They could be your main reason to live your life, but some doesn’t think that way. Instead of defensively gives reasons to the minds who doesn’t understand JKT48, let’s just prove ourselves to better fans , supporting our idols to be better. When the times comes, we’ll reap what we sow : the happiness of supporting them through the rough times. And we should never consider us (JKT48 Fans) better than those who hate us. Sometimes, the truth was hidden beneath the words of hate. Instead of defending that with words that might not been able to pass through the haters’ heart, let us think “Do they speak the truth?” and “What can I do as a fellow fans to improve JKT48”. Our idols are still not perfect, they’re still need to improve, but that’s what we love :the progress from nothing to something. Sometimes , because we’re too much deep in love with our idols, we can’t think objectively.
Just my dua ribu perak.
Hi I’m Lim. Not an overseas fan of JKT48, I’m an Indonesian but reading those comments above made me want to write some of my thought too hehe.
First of all I’d say thanks to all those overseas fans who support JKT48. I know I’m just an ordinary fan but knowing that they support our “local product” somehow makes me happy^^ Terima kasih!
Second, my thought of JKT48 is; They are special. I knew them since their debut and been watching their theater a lot. They are not Kawaii in Japanese way but they have their own charms which actually determine them from AKB/SNH. Are Kawaii, having cute voice and white skin the conditions for being an idol group’s member? I believe that Idol Group contain not the girls with those criteria I mentioned just now but maybe since this is 48, that’s why people tend to expect cute girls.
But then, let’s see JKT48 as a breakthru in Indonesian music industry. If we do see them that way, we can see 2 possibility; BIG success or EPIC failure. But seeing JKT48 for over this one year, I can say that they have BIG chance to be succeed in Indonesia, moreover as an Idol Group which is something fresh in Indonesian music industry (if only JOT and the members keep improving).
Despite their fans who somehow irritate the common people, the members themselves are talented so I see a bright future for JKT48. I know some people who even didn’t know anything about 48 being one of JKT’s big fans right now. So, we can’t say Indonesian people can’t never used to 48 concept
P.S: Thanks JKT, you made me youtube-ing AKB who I only knew as girls-in-bikinis-who-sing and made me a big fan of them until now^^
Hi, I’m from Indonesia, female, call me Chako. Reading all those opinions about JKT48 makes me want to state mine as well. I’m not a fan of JKT48 and neither AKB48 nor other 48 groups but I can say that apparently I’m curious about JKT48 and especially the concept Yasushi Akimoto brings which is all-new to entertainment industry in Indonesia. However, the idol group concept that exists in Japanese culture (or Japan entertainment industry?) is not new to me since I’m a fan of a few JE groups. Being in a fandom and feeling the experience of supporting my favorite idols can really brighten up my day^^.
At first, I was skeptical about the idea of setting up a sister group in Indonesia, but really, in fact I know nothing about the 48 groups and their fans in Indonesia or even abroad (not including Japan). But the idea of choosing Indonesia over the other countries somehow made me proud as an Indonesian. These last three days, I made myself watching videos in youtube about JKT48 (and a few AKB), from TV appearance to PV and concert performance. I also found myself lurking several JKT48 forums and drowned a little bit in those positive thoughts of fans about the future of the group. As a non-fan, I honestly feel that I’m so moved with all the support from both local and international fans. I hope the positive energy that you guys send to the idols can give them strength to continue to work hard and move forward. Now I kinda follow the group progress with a hope that someday JKT48 and the fans dream of wanting to become a national No.1 idol in Indonesia or even in ASEAN will come true.
Furthermore, I’m happy that now JKT48 has a lot more fans since their debut. I know it sounds weird since I’m not their fan. Please don’t be mad at me >.< and please allow me to support them in my own way . Also, I hope that whatever happen in the future, the management would consistently giving out new ideas without tired to improve the group and also to keep their existence looong enough in the industry. Therefore, IMHO, it might be good to see JKT48 popularity increase steadily from year to year, no need to be in a rush. Good luck and all the best for JKT48
Sorry for bad grammar^^
OK…
I’m an Indonesian currently studying in Korea, and am more like an observer than a fan.
At first, when I heard that AKB48 is making a sister group in Jakarta, I couldn’t believe it. When it became official, I smiled a bit inside, thinking it was a sign of something big.
I didn’t follow their development, but I was a bit worried that JKT48 might fail. I didn’t think about it until today, when I checked out news about JKT48. Let’s just say that today’s trends regarding JKT48 removed my doubts. Now I know they’re going to succeed.
Also, looks like Japan and Indonesia are consolidating their relationship with JKT48, that Tokusatsu project, and several other examples I may not know about.
Oh, by the way, I also agree with JKT48 having significant Indonesian flavors being necessary.
hi…i’m arcani..indonesian, 36 yr old and currently living in overseas..
read all those comments above, makes me also want to share my thought
jkt48 is not my favourable a singer group worth my attention. But when my daughter caught them in tv commercial back in my state and urge me to take her to jkt48 to watch them in live performance, i suddenly realized that these all young girls got a spirit worth our support…still lookin’ gorgeous, live up and innocent with their pure heart and looks so human without no makes up…and suddenly i felt it that i had a crush on them…looking to my daughters eyes, following their dances, smiles and laughes..i cannot help but i must keep supporting jkt48 in any way i can. In fact,, i believe jkt48 far more greater than her older sisters in akb48…jkt48 is not polluted (at least no yet) by the way of life like their sisters…
and truly i kinda worry bout the arrival of their new bud’s from japan, harugon and akichan, afraid that they can’t keep up with their fellows in jkt48 and worst, giving a bad virus in dressing room atmosphere…
i am jkt48 fan from Indonesia. . i don’t mind with what haters said. . i totally respect their opinion.. but hey jkt48 still young enough compare with akb48. . they are only 2 year formed. . even akb48 self at their first year formed, they’re not so successful. . people even called them “Panties showing group”, so to see how JKT48 journey for this 2 year seemed to bring me back to the memories first year akb48 journey .. and it touched me .. for those who hate .. please give them a chance .. same as you give to akb48 .. last but not least forgive my broken english..
with love

I knew JKT48 by chance through their “Gingham Check” MV on youtube. Then I came across another youtube video of their performance of “River” at Budokan concert in Japan on 28 April 2013; their performance gives away some vibe that awes me. Since then I’m hooked.
After comparisons of the performances of the same song (including songs other than “River”) by their Japanese counterparts, JKT48 comes off as more charismatic and unique (this is what it means to be an idol, possessing charisma!). Members of JKT48, by and large, has better vocal and dance quality than their Japanese sister groups. Their dance is much more passionate than the Japanese.
Among the members, I think Melody who has the most outstanding beauty; of course, the others are also beautiful and some can be cute too. But, this is one of the reasons why I like JKT48, their looks are so exotic and refreshing (I have been seeing too much of Japanese girls that they begin to lose their appeal).
Im an indo. Im lately into jkt48 and become a fan. I used to follow helloproject idols. Yes, jkt48 is more joyful. They (like most indonesians) really love to make joke (thanks to twitter we can see them hav fun). The akb48 and other japanese idols i dont know basially theyre stoic people, their tweet (or fb status ) usually share their pics with friends or self and we only reply “kawaii” or “cute” , thats all. Jekety kids make short videos (funny, singing, playing music instruments) regularly which entertain the fans make them not boring until today.
I agree with kenichi adam said above .
The guy above who underestimated jkt I believe she is Krusha , a user in 48 or h!p site. From the begining of jkt she talked bad about jkt.
Hey Krusha loser! , jkt48 has many fans and so as akb. Were doing great . Krusha has no fan! Hahaa. Nobody likes her. She lives alone. Go fuck urself!
Indonesian have long history in music. We often winning asian singing contest since 1970’s.
