#Bingo! : Celebrating the Fandom of JKT48
by RedRanger48 · February 5, 2013
Last Saturday night I attend one of the most unique 48 Group-related event here. Which made me ask myself, just how far 48 group fandom developed here in Indonesia. The event was called #Bingo! ~ Tribute to 48 Family.
As we already know, AKB48 was born in Akihabara, the mecca of otaku culture, which quite influenced how AKB48 grew as a group. Idol groups have already been known, like Morning Musume or other HelloPro groups.
JKT48 is kinda different. It also supported by otakus and Japanese culture’s lovers, but since the beginning of the group, there’s other circles who also supports JKT48, eventhough if we think about it for a moment, it’s quite impossible. There are hardcore/punk music fans, Korean Girlband fans, also post-rock/shoegaze kiddo. In short, JKT48 fans are not only come from one circle but many.
「#Bingo!:JKT48
@MBAHJAN666KRIK, an anonymous twitter account handled by a number of people, tries to cross all the genre in tribute to all 48 Group by creating a music gig, where performers from multiple genres come and sing with their own style.
First to perform was Fransezka Edelyn and Nia. They joined JKT48 2nd Generation Audition, but luck didn’t come to them yet to pass the audition. However, they’ve already got their own fans, and they perform with AKB48 and JKT48 songs in this gig.
Since it was a classic Idol performance, the audiences didn’t find a problem. Some of them even brought their AKB48 lightpen and glowsticks with them and do chants and kecha.
After some MC-ing, the second performer came up on stage. They’re Clover. With their easy listening arrangement of 48 Groups songs, the audiences enjoy them quite much.
Next to come up, SAKA. Being famous because of their cover of Hissatsu Teleport in Keroncong arrangement, they set the good mood of the audiences with some jokes during their performance.
After they finished, the MCs then brought up about Minegishi Minami’s video and also ask the audience to pray for Miichan so that she’ll always be happy and she’ll be able to rise up to Team B again.
Then an angel came down to earth. It was Sarah Anjani Prabanda accompanied by Jessica Nomietha. They’re the one I’m waiting since the show began, especially Sarah. Without further ado, here are their performances. She also dedicated the song Inochi no Tsukaimichi to Miichan.
Next we have KULTIVASI. They said they’re free-jazz/improv band. I don’t know about that genre, seriously. They bring 3 or 4 songs, but only one song about 48 Family. Here it is :
Last but definitely not least, Saturday Night Karaoke performs.I don’t know the genre, but the fans got hyped, creating moshing pit and bodysurfing during performance.
For me , it was a good night, seeing how many different genres give their own tribute to AKB48 and their sister groups. And I really hope for another #Bingo! gigs to be played out in the future, to celebrate the fandom with different genres and different point of view in Music.

That Kultivasi one is more like an experimental one rather than jazz
While SNK sounds like melodic punk.
WOW. Great experience that I enjoyed on your video! Actually I have been dipped into 48 families and J-POP music in Japan. I probably can’t explain what are the characteristic points of those music. So could you please let me know what points or aspects you prefer or you think special/charming on 48 families and J-POP music from the music lovers’ point of view in Indonesia? For instance, lyrics and melodies are easy to be memolized. So can sing easily with Karaoke. Or 48 groups and J-POP music consists of the chaos/mixture of “Enka”, “Kayoukyoku”, “Rock’n Roll”, “Hard Rock”,”Metal”, “Electro”, “Disco or Club” and also “Jazz”. I can propse some points. But I can’t find any particular fascinative points actually. If you could advise, it would be helpful.
Hmm… for me personally, the main point that took my interest in Japanese music is how they interpret music as a pentatonic scale in general and their chord progession that took a hint back to the Carpenters era. I really love how the Japanese music in the 90’s sounds. And to add to that, I really love how they play their creativity with the bass line
big band arrangement! smart music.
the scales and progressions are not for the faint hearted :).
and I have to end this post with,
HARUKAAA!!!
I love you!!!!!!!
I think the strong point of JPop is its “poetic lyrics” , which give you something unknown energy for life… u know other genres (I mean the same genre that rising globaly already) just gemme such a trash-ic lyrics (something like “hey ladies , you are very sexy, sexy sexy (100 times repetitively -.-)”, “broken heart then dance jump jump, if u don’t love me I’ll die”, ” what’s the point of these lyrics?those make you a pathethic girl/boy who’s crying a lot in the corner then jump and act like a dumb lol , that’s things even doesn’t represent art itself
I heard before KASA(?)’s “Hissatsu Teleport” with Kelongkong(wrong?) arrangement, Is this popular in RI?
I mean this arrangement. Do they use uklele?
Sorry, “SAKA” and “Keroncong” arragement. Playing ukulele.
Keroncong could means two different things;
1. keroncong as an instrument-like ukelele* and
2. keroncong as one of a kind of music genre….it was over since 90’s, this genre is an oldies one
*ukelele itself brought by Portugis , and here (in indonesia) we have retouched that (ukelele style) into our sense of music that called keroncong,
Nihongo translation : http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/
I nod at NN san’s idea about “poetic lyrics”. I think if I would be a lyricist for J-POP, I try to write a “story” within a “lyric”, not “beat”. Sure sometimes rhyme.
tomo-san, you know, lately our music have lost the deep meaning of lyrics , once upon a time we had a musician whom created a wow-pretty one lyric (ex: PADI, Ariel NOAH ) , but I dunno what kind of demon who made our market tend to appreciate “the bad grammer-trashy-shit” lyrics…
uhm btw I admire Akimoto-san and Hyde of Laruku, their song’s lyrics are great, pretty awesome and authenthic
gonna post the same but you sum it well. nice one
i came too
i think all the writers here should meet up
Haha, this , when and where should be the question tho’
Yuk meet up..
Where, when and hopefully it doesn’t interfere with the work hour is the main question haha. Let’s bring this over to Twitter
I wonder if we can make a group like this ?
